I really miss the sound of the screaming F6...but the M3 is more comfortable, faster in a lot of typical situations, much more practical, and yes - cheaper. It was a win-win for me. I got to have the 981 for a couple of years, and hope to have another P-car someday.

It's hard to beat all the day-to-day value you get from an M3.
yes... I can't help but chuckle every time I see a " Used Porsche " vs new BMW thread.

F87LUV take note!

I could never afford to own a used Porsche over a new BMW so My comment always is.. GO get the Porsche ( you'll be back! )

I used to have hopes of owning a P car.. but since the Cayman GT4 wasn't really available..... and Especially after seeing the thread on the average profit of a new Porsche is $17K ..vs average profit of $5K on a new BMW... i'll only be buying a new Porsche with " someone else's money".. I'm good...

Haha. I can't put 20k a year on a 911! Right now I'm keeping the dct and adding a z4mc or cpo Porsche OR waiting and trading for the CS and getting a macan as a DD. I'm on one list. The second dealer wouldn't accept msrp so that's out. We'll see. At the end of the day, my car is still one sexy beast- perfect daily but slightly boring at times. I'm scheduling HPDEs and maybe I'll change my tune.

The 981 was certainly "worth" how much I paid over the course of the two years that I had it, but I am also much too ADD for a purchase of that magnitude. leasing is better for me because I am going to be attracted to new and different vehicles as my DD.

Someday, I hope to have a third garage bay and the ability to have a non-DD car parked there. One that's just for thrashing and doesn't need to be super comfortable or practical. Whether a 981, GT4, or M2 CS is parked there remains to be seen.

F87LUV - you will enjoy all the time you spend in a P-car, should you get one...it's something everyone should try, if it's not a crazy financial burden.

I personally hope manufacturers move away from limited production cars and sell as many as they can and only have them be limited due to natural sales. Two icons of modern motoring...the McLaren F1...106 produced and the Ferrari F40...1311 produced and these cars were never limited production...Ferrari and McLaren sold as many as they could. And that's the way it should be in my humble opinion of course.
Agree. Funny though if BMW makes 999 M2GTS they will sell every one, if they don't limit production I bet they wouldn't sell more than 500.
People want what they think they can't have.

Agreed and the 500 or so they would sell vs the 999 would be driven and in the long run worth more than the 999 proposed production run

I'm going to go out on a limb here and say M2 CS will have a manual option, while GTS is DCT only.

Even with traction off (dsc still on) you find it coming on for a second and that can also be enough to unsettle the car. On smooth roads it's great, but any bumps and it just doesn't work as one until. Switch back to stock, albeit with dp and intercooler, it's much more compliant. Basically, it's great for the track but not as great on b roads.. Just my opinion
This post is very relevant. One of the repeated praises for the M2 is, as shipped from BMW, it has the right combination of suspension and power to make it a well-balanced car. If you've increased the power by 40-50hp, did you make any changes to the suspension to compensate? If not, why blame BMW?

And besides, the track is really the only place that you can reliably and safely use everything that the M2 comes with from BMW. I'm still at a loss to understand how many people line up power, brake, suspension mods, etc., as soon as they buy something like an M2. It's a car that comes from BMW way more capable than virtually any purchaser is (regardless of what you really believe about your driving capabilities). So, rather than spend thousands on a tune to gain some moderate HP, why not spend it on track time, so you can learn to drive it closer to the cars' capabilities?

How so? Doubtful the CS will come in <US$75K, so won't affect resale of the regular M2 much.

Honest question - I have a new F80 ZCP and haven't heard of any engine issues.
He is probably referring to the spun crank hub issues. I only heard of one issue on a manual trans car post December 2015 build with the supposed revised bed plate. The issue has really quieted down with the newer cars or no one is speaking out.

Great insight you and I share the same ideas and plan. Need that 3rd car bay to start things off correctly.

so does that mean you wouldn't buy an M2 based on the M4 reviews?

oh wait.. I see you have an M2 on order... you better CANCEL that and wait for the M2 ZCP because the M4 ZCP is getting WAY better reviews than the M4 !

Mine will not.. thank you very much.

I personally know of two M4 GTS owners that track their vehicles ..

There are at least 3-4 M4 GTS owners using and they are in these forums.(not being the two that I know) and use theirs as a daily driver and or track vehicle.

PS... I am the OWNER of a Limited production vehicle. Only 740 made. and my car isn't in a museum either..

I got my 1M by reading the tea leaves and not just sitting and waiting for " official confirmation from BMW like GimmeanM

I am not aware of the GTS.
Thanks for the information. My buddy in Australia bet $100 that Trump would become president way back in 2015. The odds were astronomical. He got a really really big payout... So I blame him.

Know anything about the CS being limited or unlimited? A one year production or multi-year production until 2020?
