I'm about to pull the trigger on a set of HRE RW 101's. They will have a custom fitting to the car, but I have a question about the sizes.

HRE suggests 245 front and 285 rear (no spacers required), but informed me that a 245 front and 265 rear is also possible.

I will fit them with MP4S tyres without camber plates, as I only track my car a couple of times a year at a beginners level.

Any thoughts on which size to go with?

Stick to 10(10.5)J and 265 for rear if the car is lowered.

What size and offset wheels? You can easily run 255/285 with no issues on the OEM wheel sizing.

245 front and 285 rear will induce a little more understeer than stock. From a tire setup I'd prefer 245 and 265 but not knowing what size wheels you are ordering I can't say whether they will look stretched or too wide for the wheel.

Agreed 245/285 combo will change balance more towards u/steer, unless spacers are added to widen front track.

Has anyone tried 265/285 F&R on OEM wheels and if so how is/was it ??

I definitely wouldn’t do 245/285. 265/285 works well with some minor rubbing in the front on lowered suspension. 285 fits nicely in the rear and gives a good bit more grip.

265 on the 9” OEM wheels looks slightly too big and I may try 255/285 for my street setup to see if the balance changes that much.

The grip is good, tho. My 265/285 4S setup is less than a second slower on track than my 265 square RE-71R setup, which is surprising.

ZM2,

Thanks for this - I'm switching from OE 19" 437m to OE 18" 513m. Got 18" MPSS 245/40 & 265/40 to start with. Later may try 18" MPSC2 255/40 & 275/40 or maybe 265/35 & 285/35.....

Cheers

Nice. 18’s will give you more clearance and my 265/35/18 track tires do not rub in the front.

M3/M4 Competition Package Wheels/Tires bolt right on with zero issues. M2, M3, M4 all use exactly the same width and offset wheels, only the diameter is different. Suspension and brake packages are identical on all 3 models. 265/30-20 F, 285/30-20 R

Is your car lowered or are you using any after market springs?

From the looks it seems to be standard height/suspension?

Hey, started a new thread to capture the specs on your wheels and tire combinations so we can track what fits and under what conditions. Drop your wheel, tire, and suspension specs on there and I'll try and capture them on the master spreadsheet.

I run 255 35 19 front et 22 ( 10mm spacers)
275 35 19 REAR ET 35 (NO SPACERS)

Lowered 1" front .8" rear, no rubbing N as balanced as stock but better all around...any understeer a little ease of throttle ends that real fast...

9.5" an 10.5" rims

out of curiosity, would the concave rim you have on the back fit the front? love the look when the front is just as concaved as the back.

Barely...I had a cracked front and had to throw a rear on the front just for a few days...It rubbed on steering wheel full turned...Most likely the tire...

But In Person the fronts just about match the rear...They actually have a much lower off set but bc the inch narrower wheel...But I like that look too, if you go back through my mod journal youll see Before they had the 9.5"s in a 22ET (or before I knew of them) I had much less agressive offsets they were almost flat actually, looked horrible...

NP. Although I must strongly advise against these if you live where there are rough roads or use the M2 as a DD...Ive lterally went through more rims than tires lol
