BMW of Corpus Christi. They've been really good to work with so far: no wait list, timely email updates, and no mark up over MSRP.

I was (still am?) on the waitlist at BMW of Austin but they were projecting 18-24 months from this past summer when I contacted them.

My Specs

You're still a "week 45." The number refers to end of production, which takes ~ 2 weeks. Welcome to the wait!

Quick question - what can we do with the VIN once we get it? Just further tracking detail while shipping?

^ Somewhat, and you can also use to the VIN to apply for financing if that's the route you choose to go. As a matter of fact, it helped a lot because they didn't have the M2 in their "system" yet. Usually the note will reflect the VIN which must match the title, so it helps tie it all together from a lending perspective.

Update on my week 43 build: My M2 arrived at port on October 29th with a batch of others, and is currently awaiting ship assignment. Mine is headed to New York.

If you made to port then a majority of the 43's probably have made their as well. We just need to get them on a ship already!

Update: CA and Genius both confirmed my week 43 build was loaded onto a vessel (THEBEN) yesterday November 1st, and has already left port enroute to Port Jersey VPC. Estimated voyage time is 15 days until arrival at the VPC.

Just got on marinetraffic.com and verified it's location. It looks like it has a few stops to make before it heads across the pond. It's currently in Gothenburg Sweden.

Mine arrived at the port on 11/2. Waiting for the boat.

OK, heres' a question to keep us all busy while we wait: What would you be willing to pay if BMW offered a service where by you could watch your car in real time as it went through each step of manufacturing, then, once built it had a web cam affixed to it that would give you a 360 degree view (live stream HD video of course) of where your car was at any moment, live, throughout it's entire journey. Let's sweeten the deal and say it would also log key events like being loaded on the ship, for later playback via a web portal (like a home security web cam). At the end, of course, you get a DVD of the entire journey which ends with you walking up to your car for the very first time. How cool would that be?

OK, OK, I'd be a buyer at $249. Anyone else?

I haven't called yet, but checked my VIN on WW and it wasn't found, so I'm not on Theben either. Looking around, it seems that quite a few ships will be leaving between Nov 5-8, so fingers crossed.

That's quite an idea! Sounds really cool, but realistically I probably wouldn't pay much for it. With ~6 weeks start to delivery, I wouldn't be checking the live feed that much - a few minutes per week, maybe more during actual production. So I'd say $50.

Yeah, I would be interested. It looks like our week 43 builds may be coming on the same ship since we are both WA deliveries. I can't wait.

Interesting take. I would opt for it as well. Gives you a better peice of mind knowing how your car was treated throughout the whole process.

Called yesterday, still at port since 29th. I think my next option leaves on the 8th and a few more on 11th. Lands at Baltimore.
