Is anyone else worried about liquid spilling in the USB slot between the cup holders?

I was looking for a plug like we have for the cigarette lighter but could not find one.

I use my iPhone for music and don't really like scrolling through the music on a HD or USB stick but was think this might work, https://www.sandisk.com/home/usb-flash/cruzer-fit and look better than a piece of tape

When I first saw a picture of that new plug I thought the same thing. Not sure why BMW did not include a plug for it?
Maybe the fancy BMW USB stick they sent me was for that reason? LOL

No worries here because no food or drinks are allowed in the car!

Kidding aside, I always have a USB cable connected there to charge the phone, that's why I haven't worried about it yet.

My car is 6 Speed, cable coming from the arm rest would be running by there so I don't use it that much.

I also read somewhere that the armrest port was for direct connection to the cell from the radio (this true?), and the front one mainly for charging.

In 2017 at least, the front one works for connection to the phone. Was able to see the iPhone I had hooked up and play music off of it.

I really need to play around more with the electronics in the car, I usually do Spotify thru bluetooth, but now that you mention this that might be why whenever I connect the phone it starts my iPhones music library automatically.

Did you get Apple CarPlay? I believe that is streaming the music over WiFi b/c it sounds the same as when plugged in. I believe the BT music streaming is a ConnectedDrive feature at least that's where is displays in the iDrive configurations.

I am still fighting that battle!

Spotify I can do the voice command "Blutooth Radio" and it streams, but also I can do it with the Connected Drive, usually either or, with COnnected its nice cause you see all details of the songs on the display.

My car is 2017 built the LAST week of July so I do have iDrive 5.0 it didn't have Apple Car play as an option when built.

Waiting patiently to see if they roll it in to the Canada cars via a software update like I read in another topic. ric124 was also on the same scenario I believe.

Mine is a MY2017 and yes i do have it in the arm rest but not between the cup holders !!!!
