I agree that the M2 is going to attract most of the enthusiasts. I would love to have one myself. However, I paid $44,500. +tax/liscense for my fully loaded M235i. The M235i is still a great car and a similarly equipped M2 has a US MSRP of $57,395. That is $12,895. difference in price. I haven't heard many people getting a deal below US MSRP on the M2. Worth it? Maybe. I'll wait and see how the dust settles.

Looking over the previously attached price list and all the articles online I can't seem to figure this out.
Is the blue interior stitching a no cost option? I see the check box next to the black leather interior but was wondering if we can get it without the blue.
Blue stitching is the standard. No option to remove or change.

Why doesn't BMW NA step in and force the dealers to sell at MSRP or less?
Its absurd and hurts the brand when shitty dealers do stuff like this.

A year into production you'll be able to get an m2 for 5-7% off of MSRP plus the additional ED discount.

Thats what I want to know. I was happy and excited to have put a deposit on a #3 allocation, the dealer sends me an email two days ago , that they have now decided to charge $5,000 over MSRP, when we shook hands on MSRP, and I quote the salesman "Oh yes of course it will be MSRP, we are not one of those shady dealerships that cheat our customers." How ironic.

Yeah, that behaviour is unheard of in Sweden even if all prices are just recommendation and dealers can sell to "any" price they want(within violating any consumer law)
Infact the norm is you negotiate deals on new car purchases, regardless if the model is new or or if it´s very popular as is the case with the M2.

However in the US this seems to be not that uncommon when it comes to cars with very high demand/short supply like the GT350 and Focus RS or Cayman gt4.

One thing to be a shady dealership and mark up prices. But to backtrack a deal is a new low. The quick extra buck they are making is not worth it if they look in the long run to keep a good relationship with a client. I rather sell 5 cars with decent prices than 1 with a markup.

Yeah, no problem what so ever to get a discount here and also get other stuff thrown into the deal.

I think they would only do that if total potential sales were consequently reduced. However, dealers selling more are granted more, so there is an incentive to make prices attractive. Dealership competition provides the buyer with a marketplace to shop around and to consider not doing business with those engaging in undesirable business practices (such as gouging).

I am #1

I am #1 at Houston West. So I was told and put in my order for the launch model, no color change other than LBB but that just got revised.

So this is my order:

Alpine White
DCT
Exec package
Destination charge
Total price: $56845
No discount although I did ask for it
April production. We are looking May delivery.

This has to be the easiest sale for this sales guy!

USA Invoice Pricing - via Autoblog

New subscriber, hopeful future M2 owner, first post.

So, I was using the Autoblog app on my iPhone, and decided to check on the M2 under the 'Research New Cars' section. They have the retail and invoice pricing posted:

Retail: $51,700
Invoice: 48,065

0.9297, or 93% of retail price.

I didn't see this posted anywhere here, but saw lots of people asking about it.

My understand has always been that the dealership's majority source of income is service (including warranty work) and that sales kicks into service.

So I could see charging out of state buyers a premium since they will not service the car there but across the board sticking it to customers doesn't seem to make sense. Unless the my understanding is incorrect.

Correct, but sales, parts, service departments dont throw there numbers together. So the sales could care less where you going to service your car and v/v service dont care where you bought the car from

Is a SA selling you a car, not the GM of the dealership

Agree. You would think the owner who does car would not allow sales to negatively image the dealership's long-term image for a few thousand for a few cars.
