So, back to the topic at hand. Can the startup exhaust be coded to be quieter? I leave before the neighbors are up and want to be respectful. Also looking hard at a downpipe.

2017 6MT. I have bimmercode and in theory Esys. Can anyone point me towards a way to keep it quietish? I love the sound and look forward to the dp, but would really like the ability to switch it off and on.

While that solves one problem, it creates several more.

Anyone? Looking for a coding or tuning solution to disable cold start. I've seen references to being able to do it in ESYS but not the actual code. I'm looking for something other than the "Vietnamese mod" from this (although to be fair, that IS pretty sweet ).

Like the guy above me said, if you tune your car you can remove the cold start procedure all together.
Unfortunately there's no way to simply code it out.

Ah thank you. This is the first I’ve heard someone say you can’t simply code it out. Others have said you could but never provided details. I’m guessing that the startup routine is buried in the ecu.

Waiting to see what MHD puts out and still have a week or 2 until the dp comes in.

Ho I want to do exactly the opposite, having cold start all the time
Usually open window slightly before ignition so I can enjoy it more

Keep your driver's door open during cold start and you'll hear it even better !

These comments about moving or buying a prius are ridiculous. OP has a legit question. If you don't find the cold start absolutely obnoxious then this thread isn't for you. Frankly I find it incredibly annoying only to become a whisper after the first rev. I have MPE and if I want to make the car louder Ill do exactly that while driving. Shame you can't code it out. Splitting hairs on the emissions saving end.

I didn't buy this car to please the neighbours, i bought it to please myself. So catted DP from Akrapovic coupled with M Performace exhaust, valves open cold start, Good Morning Neighbours, me and my stupidly loud car wish a lovely day

Also to add to this, because i usually start my car drive 4 minutes to my nearest shop for a drink, i start it again, you get a really loud start and it uprevs on its own. this is only available from what i have tested when you follow this sequence above.

Did u code it by yourself with a cable and a PC or an app ? Or do you have to go thru a specialist ?
