My Dealers HEA car is delayed

CA says the scheduled production date has now been pushed back to May with no reason given. Wonder what's going on. Something is amiss. I thought most HEA were on US soil, but maybe that is not the case.

FWIW, I have been moved up to #1 for a configurable car. And we have no idea when I will be able to order.

Same response here. Thought my car would be sitting at port for a month until 4/15 but apparently my car won't be here until May.

So now that we know many US dealer demo cars won't be delivered until middle of June, it calls into question how any US customer orders be made for MY2016?

It's looking like mostly HEAs for MY16 and customer orders for MY17

Is this going to push back the release date for the cars that are already here? I remember reading something about not releasing the cars because it's not fair for all dealers.

Maybe they intend all customer cars to be MY 2017 so that the warranties will all be 3 years/36 k miles. A $1,200 reduction in the manufacturers cost of the car, by some estimates.
A cynical way to look at it, perhaps; still, I wouldn't put it past'em.

Not all HEA cars are produced at the same time. When my CA showed me their BMW system on his desktop in January, their HEA car was scheduled to go in production in April. I don't know the latest news but I'm not surprised. I don't think people who are waiting for the cars already at the ports need to worry. You guys are probably going to get your cars on April 16th. It's only us without a production number that are gonna crazy during this endless wait.

That makes no sense. Production started in October and they only needed to produce 250 or so demo cars.

Never said it made sense...just stating what I've heard through the BMW grapevine.

I'm guessing production on these is going a lot slower than predicted, likely being offset by the huge numbers of sales of the 2-series Tourer/Gran Tourer.

Plus they know they have a hot car in their hands and I'm sure they will milk it to make it seem as rare as our beloved 1M.

What do you mean "seem as rare"? BMW produced 983 US-spec 1M's in 9 months, while it appears they will have less than half of that number of US-spec M2's for the same number of months.

M2 production is expected to run longer than 1M, which was essentially one "batch" so to speak. That's what I meant by 'seem as rare'.

Have to agree with you though, if they keep this production schedule up, we may have less of these than 1Ms...

My HEA car is at port and better be in my hands on the 16th.... Still no confirmation on delivery to the dealer, but enough is enough on this BS! It's interesting that BMW Genius doesn't have a clue on shipping dates as they are telling me to check with the dealer.

Not a good way to build customer confidence!

I'm about ready to break into the port and drive my car out, gone in sixty seconds style, lol. It's about 20 minutes from where I live which makes the wait even worse.

This is really getting strange... not just the delays but the lack of communication (which implies they really don't have a handle on what to communicate). Could there be some parts supply/fabrication problems, or assembly problems that they are keeping to themselves?

Delays won't impact me much... scheduled for week 47 production so likely going straight into the garage for the winter. A delay will only shorten the storage period until Spring '17. Sucks for those of you hoping for 2016 driving though.

i'm confused so is the rumor that ALL HEA cars are delayed. Even ones that are produced and waiting at "Finishing Touches Stage".

What logistical reason do they have to hold back? Why is BMW is bad at this?
