HomeLink

Does the M2 come with HomeLink (garage door opener)?

It sure does. A bit of a pain to program, but they all are. Mine's working fine these days (and the other cars work too).

For some reason the M2 was WAY easier to program than the older X5. Took literally 2 seconds and one trip up the ladder.

+1 on the video idea.

Way better than Porsche's homelink which interferes with LED lights...

I had no problem programing mine for both the rolling code at home and non-rolling code at work.

I agree, it was a pain it took me a couple of try's. I had to ignore the Blinking LED on the mirror that was telling me it learned and keep holding down the button and then it took.

Mine was easy. I went to the actual garage door opener and took light cover off. There is a button you push that gives you 30 seconds to auto program. Just get in the car (or just about any car with homelink) and hold the button down until it stops blinking. I have it in 3 of my cars and just did all 3 in 2 minutes, along with 2 other remotes.

once i programmed the m2, it broke the programming in my i8. which was weird. haven't tried programming the i8 again since i just use my automation system to control the garage. i8 has ifttt integration so i can automate my garage to open and close based on it leaving/entering a geofence.

Programming it wasn't an issue....I just followed the steps in the owner's manual which went fine.

However, I'm finding that, intermittently, it just doesn't seem to work properly. Maybe 1 in 20 times, the garage door will not open. I'll need to leave it for awhile, or open it manually...and after that Homelink seems to work fine again.

Totally cool - how can I set this up?

i tried looking for the ifttt integration in the m2, but i couldn't find it. plus you'll need a home automation system. i could technically open my garages w/ voice commands too.

Old post, I know, but I'm experiencing the same problem with Homelink working intermittently. Did you ever get this resolved?

Anyone else have problems with Homelink working sometimes and other times not? Thank ahead of time

Wow....blast from the past

After the first few weeks I was able to consistently get it to work. I think it was just user error. Maybe didn't have quite the same range as my previous car, but once I figured out the distance, how long to hold the button down, etc. it was not an issue.

Good luck!

Thanks for your reply! It was working perfectly the first couple months. Then I started parking it in our shop for a couple months. I just moved it back to the garage and the problems started.

It'll open fine from a good distance, I pull in and then I can't close the door. Then I tried to leave the garage and it wouldn't open the door. I was reading on a Tesla forum about possible interference from led lights, so I tried that theory. I waited for the lights to go off and I was able to open and close the door. Then I tested it again with the lights on and the door opened, but I couldn't close it.

I may just delete the door and reprogram it to see if that takes care of it. Frustrating! Lol!

This is interesting. What is rolling/non-rolling? I have a card I have to reach out and swipe for work garage - is this something I can program into HomeLink?

Obviously there's detailed explanations online, but the basic idea is a non-rolling code system has one static code that opens and closes the device (gate/door/whatever) which is not very secure. Rolling code system change the code each time.

There no way the homelink could replace a keycard entry. Homelink only works with radio frequency controlled devices.
