Delivery date LCI M2

Last week I ordered a LCI M2.

Today the dealer told me it will go into production in the week of July 3rd. Delivery in Belgium in the week of the July 24th.
Pickup will probably be in the week of August 7th after installation of accessories and getting all the paperwork done.

I know when I'm planning my leave of absence this year ;-)

My dealer had 7 slots for early July production and said they're all 2017 pre-LCI builds. If they're building LCI's the first week of July, they have some explaining to do. Did the slots open up today?

Why does the dealer have some explaining to do? There are unfilled slots for '17s all over the country. It appears a lot of buyers are doing what I did - turn down a slot for a '17 build in June so I could take the first July slot for an LCI build.

Because if LCI's are being built the first week of July I'd have taken one of those slots. But they said the switchover to the LCI isn't until the end of July. So what week does LCI production start?

Yes, my dealer said the same thing. The first weeks are non-LCI.
So someone here is spreading the wrong information. The joy of getting information from a dealer...

Take into account that production and delivery of European LCI units will happen before US/RoW vehicles.

July 17 is supposed to be the start of LCI production. FWIW, my dealer has been dead-on accurate with his information so far. We'll see...

They aren't going to be building NA market pre-LCI vehicles and Euro market LCI models on the same production line the first week of July. We just need to know what week the model year change is taking place, if it's happening the first week of July that would be nice to know since I'd been told otherwise. I'll be picking it up at the Welt anyway, so I'd like to get it all scheduled as soon as possible.

Um I don't want to be pedantic but is that "the 17th of july" or "July 2017" ???

I've got offers from 3 dealers for late July delivery, they can't order it yet but have quotas reserved.

Accuracy is good! It's what I said: July 17, as in July 17, 2017 - not July '17 (July 2017). I have to get used to the large number of international users here. And for the U.S., I'm told, July build means late August or early September delivery.

Ah yes, forgive me - I had suspected that you had forgotten to put the apostrophe in ! You are absolutely right and I apostrophise. I, too, am waiting for one of the first LCI deliveries which is why I wanted to clear this up. I wonder whether I might get mine end july in that case, since I'm in Europe.... or will the bloody Americans take precedence ?

This is perhaps for the UK only but I spoke to two dealers, the one where I have my deposit (a local dealer) and I called another dealer, who say they are one of four M Specialist dealers in the country and they both said the same thing, which is all they know is the car is going into production at some point in July and they have no more information than that. Neither could offer to spec or give production delivery dates but said it would be probably be near the end of the year, which is similar to something I read which suggested the LCI would be on the roads the last quarter of 2017 (I can't find where I read it but if I do I will post).

It seems you and a whole bunch of people around the world have been told they are getting a July build slot for the LCI. So either BMW are going to build everyone's M2 in July and then take it easy for the next six months or there are going to be some disappointed customers

I'd take that with a large grain of salt.

Historically, new MY production does not start until week 31 or 32. I find it very unlikely they'll be building LCI's first week of July given how production timelines went last year.

Doesn't Germany shut down for vacations for the first couple of weeks of July?
