My leather map with instructions manual booklet is sitting next to my battery (but without car registration and insurance docs inside). Perfect fit. Did the same with my 1M (see picture below). Use your glovebox for other stuff.

Nice, thanks, I'll check this out. Btw, I don't believe US cars get the warning triangle? Don't remember as I haven't been in the lower trunk/battery area since when I first purchased the car.
