Sport setting IS programmable. Sort of.

I think some owners might have missed that the Sport Setting is partly programmable.

(Comfort, Sport+, Traction (A.K.A. MDM) and DSC off are not programmable at all)

What you can choose in Sport mode is one of three settings:

1.
Steering = Sport
Everything else = Sport

2.
Steering = Comfort
Everything else = Sport

3.
Steering = Sport
Everything else = Comfort

Here is a screenshot where you choose between the three. Sorry it's in Swedish.

Well the OP put a screen shot of a table that I didn't feel like looking for in the manual so I support it! Currency be damned!

That table has been posted 30 times or so already so not really new here either.
Apparently some people don't know this even if the cars tell you this each time you select Sport.

Fortunately for BMW, new owners of an M2 are created every day, and fortunately for this message board, new users come here every day.

Why not just ignore threads that don't interest you or are rudimentary to your advanced M2 intellect?

It's old news. But I regularly come across posts in other threads where it's obvious the owner doesn't have a clue about this. So I thought it would be a good idea to make a thread. No?

Well, obviously it is then. I wasn't questioning your post, I was asking if people didn't know this. I haven't seen anyone ask this, but I must have just been in other threads then.
In other news, the accelerator is to the right!

Well OP could have also simply "bumped" one of the prior threads on the subject, if the intent was to inform new buyers. There is typically additional useful info in those thread's responses as well.

Sure, OP could have bumped an old one, but I have never seen one and most posts are people complaining about this mode or that mode. My M2 is due in soon and I didn't know this, so thanks for bumping this while saying OP should have bumped another

Wait, so you didn't tick the iDrive settings option which avoids the 'SPORT' message from 'disturbing' your SATNAV screen each time you push the 'SPORT' button ?

Hehe, I have. But if you can find that you probably know how to configure sport too.

That's like changing the 'waterfall ambient lighting' radiating from the M2 roof near the rear view mirror: in the iDrive settings you can set the radiated color to either "Classic" (amber/orange) or "Sport" (white). Seems that most don't know they got that choice.

Hmm, the forum does need a "did you know" thread...
The configuration is such a misnomer, but I hadn't gotten that far, so reminder appreciated. Will also check out the ambient lighting!

I can't figure out that table for the life of me. Even with my higher M2 intellect. One of the poorest table designs I've seen.

I think the above thread, Post #48 by 3si is correct....if you reference the table, his post makes sense. The 5 distinct modes on the table are from left to right. The 3 sub columns under 'SPORT' are what OP is referring to.

I've quoted his post:

BEGIN QUOTE
*********************

Comfort
Sport
Sport +
DSC button short press
DSC button long press

5 modes all together, they do not overlap.

*****************
END QUOTE

We might indeed create a special thread for some tips and tricks.

Some more that spring to mind.

* Tick the 'Satellite Images' option in the SATNAV options to get the following result when SATNAV zoom is at 2km/1mile range and higher.

* Got the Smoker's Package (option code 441) ? Unclip the ashtray if you want some extra storage space.

* Big smartphone or walkie talkie ? Store it in a slightly opened front part of the passenger seat (thigh support 'crease'). Long walkie talkie also fits right behind the seatbelt buckle.

* Lazy old fashioned nostalgia dinosaur which still plays some old CDs, 'just because' ? The CD 'booklet' storing tens of compact discs perfectly fits inside the armrest storage.

* Loose things dangling around in the boot ? Put those inside a bag which you connect to one of the tow hooks located near the rear lights, or take the cargo/stowing net stored near the battery and secure it on the boot floor panel (lashing eyes in the cargo area).

* Three cans (33cl) perfectly fit in the tray between the rear seats + don't move when even going for a spirited runs.

I found that one once, and have now lost it somehow. Now, I just press menu above the dial so I don't have to see that sport configuration thing, and in 30 seconds I get the clock (or, if I want, a black screen, which I've programmed to a button).

So what is it--iDrive settings, vehicle settings or something else--that gets me to the bypass of the sport configuration message when I hit the mode button??

A tips and tricks (T&T or TNT ?) thread/category is a fine idea. Just because some know it all already or it has been posted in another thread it would be a good go to resource for everyone and help new owners. Allot of subject matter gets lost in these threads as we all go off on tangents and re-cycle beta. Sometimes hard to keep on topic for some, yes, I'm already guilty!

*Don't put your manual packet in the glove box. Not only does it not fit properly, it will move from side to side when crankin' thru the twisties and wear a line in the felt like material on the inside of the glove box cover. Plus, it's all listed in the iDrive menu for reference anyway.

P.S. Had to change my username, thx.
