i'm confused by the concept of the key holder thingy. isn't the whole idea of having an intelligent key is to being able to not taking it out of your pocket when get in/drive the car?
i happen to love that the m2 comes with many cup holders and storage compartments, but i guess that's not helping the op... |

Good to see the options that are out there. The cup holder inserts change, but don't get rid of them. They're cheap enough to give it a try. That's not quite as elegant of a solution as in my E46 with the outright replacement.
Heck, I've never even sat inside an M2. Just a few more months until my cupholders make it to South Carolina. I'm more looking forward to the car attached to them. |

I only wish the fob were much smaller so it didn't hog so much room in my pocket. -scr |

The ashtray is a different story, you need to pull out the bottom rubber cover with a screwdriver and then push in the ashtray |

No! Ashtray is a complete different thing. To install the cup holders, just push them inside, nothing else.
To complete the look on the center console I decided to install the ashtray I but it's not necessary at all for the cup holders! |

I can 100% confirm that they fit. I bought them. No pics but they are nice to have. They just slip in place. The shallow one is nice because you can still put stuff under it and keep it concealed.

About how much room is underneath? Enough to hide a watch or some change?

Has anyone ever retrofitted a flip-top ashtray lid? Mine doesn't have one but I would kind find it useful for loose change etc. I take it it would require removal of the whole damn dashboard?
