HK in the 2 series cars suck, but we are not buying the M2 for the stereo anyways. It is the worst HK system in any BMW. Nothing like the systems in the 3/4 series cars.

Guys: the HK stereo in the M2 is exactly the same as in any other 2 Series car. There are absolutely no differences.
In light of this, I would start reading through this subforum on 2Addicts. You'll soon find out that 2 Series stereos are far, far inferior to those in any other BMW model -- to the point where BMW refunded part of the option cost of the 2 Series HK upgrade in 2014 because it was improperly described by BMW as being a Logic7 system when it isn't. The kicker to that? BMW never lowered the option price after that and never changed the option's specs. Sorry, gentlemen, but I'm afraid you're going to find that the M2's stereo system is its weakest feature. Why? Because it is in 'regular' 2 Series cars.

Did anyone of you notice that if you switch off the radio the ASD sounds different or a lot less noticeable?

Even my '11 135i has a better HK system than the 2 series.... I even have a graphic equalizer... Not happy about upgrading the car gets me an downgraded HK upgrade.

Yeah, the audio system is total shit. Good stuff here: http://www.2addicts.com/forums/showthread.php?t=1236238. I plan to take the plunge soon.

On our cars, unplugging the ASD module disables audio completely because the signals from the head unit no longer reach the amp. One needs to code out ASD or bypass it with a harness. The latter is preferred, the former is less work. The harness is better because the ASD module contains a power amp that drives the line-level inputs of the audio amp even if coded out. Noise, noise, noise. |
