Nav/Telephony broken
I tried searching the forums to see if anyone else had this on a recent BMW but couldn't find anything useful; apologies if I just can't search well.
For the last several days, my GPS won't get a position lock and defaults to the sea off the western coast of northern Africa. I punched in my manual GPS coordinates and it shifted the map there since the map data still works but it still couldn't follow me around or direct me. Over the same period, the built-in SOS telephony is broken as evidenced by the error lights on the dash. Finally, my bluetooth works for receiving sound (ie the speakers) but the mic won't work so callers can't hear me though I can hear them just fine. My car (2017 M2 6MT) is stock aside from a BMS clutch stop. It isn't due for service for some time and I'm a fairly busy guy so I'd rather take a crack at this myself on a weekend if possible. Several restarts haven't fixed the issue but I wondered if anyone knows if this is something I can troubleshoot a bit myself. Could it be a loose relay/connection for the shark fin antenna or something of the sort? Any experience and ideas would be appreciated. Thanks all! |

Not to revive a dead thread but in case anyone has similar issues in the future and is looking for a cause and fix, it was indeed the TCB unit (telematics control) which has been replaced and everything works fine again.

Major props for following up on your old thread though. Hate when people leave them hanging.

Since this hardware is shared by other, much-higher production BMW models, makes sense to post questions like these in other model forums to improve likelihood of an answer. Having an M2-specific nav/radio forum would seem to limit opportunity to get and share relevant info about iDrive, coding, amps, speakers, you name it.

Fixed...The TCB was fried and its fuse in the rear fuse panel (next to TCB) was burnt out...Probably as a result of a methanol spill that occured directly above the tcb...
