Some sort of red. Either way it's interesting how BMW is trying to underpowered this to keep it below the m3/4. I imagine they tested it with more power and it came too close so they cut it down even more. Either way, with a tune this is probably going amazing.

I'm getting hairs standing up on the back of my neck thinking about this. Used M2 with a half cage welded in, TUNED M4 engine, DCT, Wavetrack diff, suspension upgrades and new wheels. Talk about a scary scary ride. Especially if you lighten her up a few hundred lbs. (interior parts and such)......

Mark my words. I'm totally guessing, but if this is the exterior choice, I'm not even going to be remotely surprised if the interior choice is black leather with blue contrast stitching.

Go MG man. I think that's gonna look absolutely amazing. Those flares are really going to pop with this color.

And not my car (and that's SG, but it's close enough):
Yeah man, I'm sure you're correct. Wasn't really all over the 1M launch etc, limited colours will have to make sense for small production car & Leipzig factory. Interior choices likely limited also, but the OP asked for what we'd like to see Happier with how it drives and if in there's anything I can do about the RHD pedal offset I didn't like on the M235i. Pretty certain I'll need to go DCT.

DG!!!! AND, sad about the N55 numbers . . . . not very M like; should have been 375+. Otherwise, just go find a 1M.

After reading some of the comments, I'm not sure what some of you thought the M2 was going to be...

I own a N54 car and a owned a N55 car. N54 is a "better" motor, particularly on the top end as the N55 peters out. I am sure the M2 will be great, and I am #1 at my dealer for one, but now I am seriously considering a M3. It seems to me that the price difference will be small and the performance gap significant.

Damn, they're really sticking us in between a rock and a hard place with this.

Oh well, still super excited for even the slightest bit of news at this point haha.
Colinv6 you could get my M4 super cheap and I'd be happy with an AW M2

I'm also wondering the same. When they said that this car will have 365 hp, it's more like 365 whp. This thing will have 0 problems keeping up with my catless E92 M3 (not saying that mine is GTR fast, but last I checked, it was a pretty quick car as well).

Were people expecting 450 hp and 450 ft-lbs or something?

Ats is a 3 series competitor tho isn't it

I think the torque figure is low as the car would not be able to hold a perfect handling balance with too much torque, it would oversteer too much, and that's why they keep the torque low, so the car will have a proper balance.

Yeah you're probably right, MG is pretty fantastic. And it looks like a stealth beast in those photos which is usually what my personality prefers.

In other news, I think it's clear how BMW is playing this now.

HP : 365
- Some thought it would be more, it's on the low side of the expected 365-375

Torque: 323 ft-lbs
-11 more than the M235i. I'd bet the M2 is lighter but still.

Colors:
4 colors. 3 shades of gray (AW, MG, BS) and a far out there Blue (LBB). Polar opposite choices, and only 4 in total.

This paired with the recent comments and speculation (that I agreed with) about the M2 not being far above the M235i in terms of hardware seem to be true.

And the limited color selection aligns with the idea that BMW is indeed planning on full production for the M2, rather than limited, but to be sure to keep (what I now think) will be a ~50k or even below 50k car from stepping on the M3 and M4 are the options like most have been saying.

I think the next thing to expect is the realization of loss in luxury compared to M3 and M4 even in areas such as the lack of LED headlights? I hope not but it's not that big of a deal, I don't need tons of luxury.

I'm just happy to hear anything about the M2 now because regularly being a passenger in my buddy's Mineral Gray M3 rather than cruising beside it makes me super anxious (and excited). Haha.

450HP is way to much, but I think people were thinking more towards 380-390 with a few less CF bits than M3/4 for cost saving purposes and potentially a lighter car than the M235i.

Obviously we don't have anywhere near the complete details, but so far it looks like even the weight will be a cause for concern for some.

Well if that is the best they can do HP wise, it's off the list. Not enough difference with a M235i. very disappointing. BMW doesn't want to join the German HP war for small cars???

But I do think the M2 will look awesome in all those colors.

While mineral gray is a nice color, I wish there was an M specific gray for this and the f8x.

As stated, donington would be great
Personally, I wouldn't want another grey car because I already have one, but if I had to pick between MG and DG, I'd go MG.

An M2 in MG would look probably the most menacing out of all 4 of those colors actually.
I completely agree MG is a more menacing gray. I loved SGM on the 08 M3's for the same reason.

But MG is seemingly everywhere right now on BMW's. I wouldn't want to get another gray car after my space gray but I do think it is a great goldilocks type of color. Gray colors have the best of everything I think.

I understand a smaller palette on the M2 like the 1M had. I just wish we had several shades for the other M cars. The E92 had it for a little bit with lemans and interlagos, space gray and sparkling graphite, jet black and jerez... It would be nice to see that sort of trend return.

Seems good to me. I don't remember the 1M specs being that far off from the 135I and that turned out to be a great car. So what's changed? Why is the expectation that every new car needs to be pushing 400+ hp? And if not it sucks?
