Yep, stock car definitely falls under B Street. Should be a contender, save FRC C5.

Not classified yet as far as I know. I'd guess it may actually end up in ASP. Probably worth a letter to the SEB.

For ST, the M2 should go into STU as part of the "catch-all" provision of that class, but per the classing rules would be ineligible for National Tours or Championships: Sedans & Coupes NOC (nonsports-car-based; 4-seatMost pertinent restriction in STU is max 11" wide wheel and 285-section tires. As for SP, the M2 is not specifically classed yet that I've seen (not in the 2017 rulebook and not in any Fastracks this year AFAIK). SSP has a catch-all rule for "sports cars over 2.0L not otherwise classified", but I don't think the M2 would fit with the rulebook definition of "sports car." Again, a letter to the SEB would be appropriate to clarify. Since the M235i is specifically classed in ASP, I very much doubt that the M2 would end up anywhere south of that. Keep in mind that the current-gen M3/4 are not specifically classed in SP right now either. Classing in Street Modified (SM) is clearly OK. The regular Prepared and Modified classes are a whole 'nother thing entirely. I won't even begin to talk about those. That's just crazy

Any thoughts on the ZL9 M2 classing? I'm considering using the car for the upcoming ProSolo. Emailed the SEB about a month ago and still haven't heard back.

Until it's officially classed you're in SS, and I somewhat expect it will either not get specifically classed at all, or get left in SS for good to bury it.

Big shame as driving the M2 was fairly interesting at the last local event.

Just to give an update as I've been waiting:
If anyone with a ZL9 is looking to use their car, the SEB has decided to place it in AS.

Hi folks, new M2 owner here. Bought the M Performance suspension with the car, and about to have it installed. Car is going to be run in BS with the SCCA. I need some help with understanding limits of rule set in Street. This thread seemed like a good place to ask, but if not I'll happily start my own thread.
Am I correct in saying that I may use the M Performance adjustable shocks, but must also use the original springs that came with the car to be BS legal? I want to be ruie-compliant and not open to a protest as I plan to run on the Champ Tour this year and head to Lincoln with the car next year. Thanks in advance for any input. D. |

The M2 is BS if completely stock.. I was moved to STU just by having Eibach springs in my first event.

If you read the last few pages of the thread, I've done research for everyone and found the SEB classified the PE in AS.

To put a regular M2 into AS you would need to do a complete package conversion, with exceptions for "comfort and convenience" items. I'm not sure why you'd want to do that though...

What class is the M2 with performance modifications such as tune, IC, Catless DP, etc.? I realize these mods will actually hurt my classing for autocross but I'm only looking to have fun.

Did my first autocross event this past Sunday. I'm on continentals so curious how much of a difference that makes. I'm also coming from a modified Evo with about the same power as a stock M2 but running E85.
My times were terrible, most of that is due to driver. I haven't autocrossed in about 6 months and am used to a point and shoot driving with an Evo. The car felt like it rotated well. I ran in Sport + but I felt like a lot of times the power was not going to the wheels. Is this the DCT trying to keep the wheels from spinning. There was a fast ending where once I straighten out I was flatout and it felt torqueless. |

I'm coming from a piggy FS E46 M3 so take my feedback with that in mind. I was able to blast away all of BS at a local SCCA event in a PE on the Conti's (few Focus RS on RE71R). This is before the SEB said the PE should go to AS. I would expect at least 1.5+ seconds with proper tires over the Conti's, and will report back once I can get some 18" wheels with RE71R or Rivals.
