So now, as a week 24, I'm officially the last week of MY2017 I guess. Should I be excited or upset?

Noob question, how do I know what projected week I am? A MY17 allocation happened to open up from someone backing out, so I placed my deposit and received a production number. I know about tracking on the BMW site and the phone number, but it only shows my vehicle has yet to be in production. It was in status 112 when i signed...

Your CA should be able to pull up your production number and tell you, or you can call the BMW Genius line and give them your production number and they should be able to tell you as well. Remember that the production week is only an estimate and subject to change.

Thanks, appreciate it. Waiting game continues...though I shouldn't complain, I just signed last week and it should be coming up as MY17 product starts to wrap up.

I'm week 22, and I'm excited because ... M2! The LCI looks great, but, unless a moon roof is important to you, the changes are minor from my perspective. I'll never see the headlights or taillights, and even if there is a marginal increase in their "performance" that increase is, well, marginal to me. The interior refinements are nice, but for a car like this maybe too nice. The white on black gauges are a practical improvement, but let's be honest. How much time do you really spend staring at your tach or speedo?

As for resale value, my rule is that if I'm worried about it the car is too expensive for me. Cars are tools and toys, not investments.

As always, YMMV, and there are equally valid arguments to the contrary.

Not sure but I did see a post stating they were originally 2017 and week 25 and they were moved to 2018. So...some have I guess.

Has anyone gotten an allocation for 2018 yet? I've been told i'll be on the July build list, but don't yet have a VIN ...just a piece of paper that says i might get a car one day.

Do you have a production number? You won't get a VIN for a while, not until the car enters production.

Also, factory shuts down for first two weeks of July for vacation, so any July production will be during last two weeks.

Just heard from my CA that no one received production numbers for the 2018 M2 this month (after two delays - July production numbers would normally be released in early June), so we could all be in limbo for another 2+ weeks. Not sure what's going on but wondering if that recent production delay has anything to do with it. Also wondering if they're still going to start building the 2018 M2 next month at all.

My CA told me nothing until July, too. Although he didn't claim to know about other dealerships. I'm glad to see that it isn't just my dealership that didn't get anything.

So if there are still no allocations then does it stand to reason that we should be putting $$ down and at least get a "spot" in the / on the order bank of a few dealers?? I'm told the $$ is fully refundable.

I've gotta assume that this helps us get an allocation when they eventually come in right???

If you really want the car, why not? The earlier you get a spot in the order bank, the earlier you should get an allocation. I "reserved" my spot in April, and I will have the first allocation for an M2 from the dealer, likely for a July (or possibly August) build.

I definitely recommend being added to the wait list. Some dealers in my area have up to 30-something people on theirs. Meaning that your chances of getting an allocation without a reservation are slim to none. I was lucky enough to get the 6th spot in line at my local dealer.

My CA told me I am # 1 on list for and he is waiting for an allocation. The next closest dealer has 18 on their waiting list. Spoke to him today and he says car is scheduled to be built on 7/4/17. But according to this thread the factory is closed for vacation. I think he is blowing smoke.

My CA at one of the two dealerships I have a deposit at just e-mailed me they have an allocation slot for 2018... I was the first (and only) on the waiting list at this dealer. Pretty low volume for the area, so I'm wondering if this may have somehow worked in my favor.

I replied back asking if they actually have an allocation or if he's just going to put me in the order bank where it will sit at status 047 for who-knows-how-long...

No production number, all i have is the piece of paper i got when i made the downpayment in Feb. I was told i would be first of the 18's for the dealer.
