2018 Allocation Available Now

Was talking to my dealer last night and he mentioned he has a 2018 order slot avail. Probably a July build - dealer is in St. Louis (of course you can always do Performance Center Delivery if you choose).

Contact Brett Midgley at Autohaus BMW if you want it.

Does he have an allocation? Are they finally released? Apparently BMW clawed back some early allocations.

An order slot or an allocation? Very different things.

Order slot means you get to order a car. Allocation means they actually ordered it and gives you a firm delivery week i.e. a real car.

Its a status 105. Of all the remaining M2 production for model year 2017, most are status 105 - thus unless they can some how crank through all of those (133 of them), it will be a 2018. This just happened on the 230s.

So chances are, this will be a 2018 - unfortunately there are no allocated slots for 2018.. yet

In other words, "order slot" doesn't mean anything. Production slot with a number attached resulting from an allocation that has been given to you means quite a bit more

I learned this the hard way a year or so ago. Many dealers were eager to take my "order." But the only "slot" that got me was a slot on their waiting lists for an allocation. They had no allocations to give me, of course, but that didn't mean they didn't want to take my order, take a deposit, and sit on the cash for months, while they tried to sell me on loaded up M3/M4 or M235i cars they had on their lots.

Just wondering, how do you know there are 133 MY17 remaining to build?

Wouldn't BMW just delay the MY18 instead of eating the MY17 parts?

So tempted to just drop my money on a 17. The wait is killing me.

I don't think it works quite the way you think. There is not some pile of parts that "hey we should use up."

For example... the 230s that were status 105 as of today all became 2018s.

That's actually true I remember when the first 2011 X6s started coming out and they were using parts from the 2010 model years! People were pissed! Basically a bunch of new things that were supposed to be on the truck, were not there! Try and get BMW to resolve that!

And, I've only seen one plant in action, the one in SC and I don't ever want to even think about what goes into making a vehicle - the complexities were crazy!

First post! So I too am one of the So Cal guys trying to get a 2018 LBB with sunroof.

Even though, per above, allocations are not out yet I do have one dealer claiming they have some for 2018 BUT at a markup over MSRP.

Anyone in the SoCal area get an official allocation at MSRP? If so where?? Thanks!

If you do find one, I guarantee the waiting list will be very, very, very long.

If you want it earlier and at MSRP you have to start looking nationwide and ship the car. Or find a MY17 allocation someone dropped for a MY18 - that's probably your best bet.
