BMWNA is listening

Looks like a sunroof (moonroof) is an option for the US for MY 2018.

$1100 dollars I believe.

Why not!?

I added one to my build for MY2018. Considering taking it out once I actually receive the allocation though.

If there was a CF roof I'd skip it.

But there isn't.

Absolutely - I've had sun/moonroofs in every car that offered them, and I use them 9 or 10 months out of the year. I've never had a rattle, leak or wind noise problem, and the 2 tenths of a second I'd lose a lap at Road America because I had a moonroof is of no importance to me (and probably would never be noticed by 95% of the M2 owners here). The biggest issue is losing that inch and a half of headroom, but reclining the seat would take care of that for me.

At my dealer I had the choice of taking the last 2017 allocation or the first 2018 allocation, and I chose the 2018 in hopes that the moonroof would be available - so I'm a happy almost M2 owner.

There is an aftermarket CF roof option.

Every car I've ever owned always had a moonroof. I think it's personal preference and obviously shouldn't be a deal breaker either way if you like the car enough.

My M2 is the first car I've ever had without one..maybe at times I think it would be nice to open the top, but truly I get over it real quick and just enjoy driving this beauty.

I configured my '18 LBB with MT, Exec pkg, and Moonroof. Got a production number and status 111 today. So excited!

$1100 is why not! lol

Totally understanding it's a personnel preference but I wouldn't want one if they gave me an $1100 discount.

Enjoy it!

You have to buy the carbon fibre roof.

Then you have to have a body shop remove and replace the old steel roof.

Whenever I have a car with a moonroof, for whatever reason I find myself opening it only just because its there then will end up closing just after a few minutes due to loud exterior and wind noise. Utterly not needed in my view.

If has its benefits without fully opening it like simply letting fresh air in by tilting it up. Great feature when it is raining.

You mean more like letting bad air out?

I have always purchased a sunroof and when the glass moonroofs came out I bought them too. Though I rarely ever use them. I'm actually glad it wasn't a US MY 2017 option or I may have checked that box. One pleasant surprise is that I can put both windows down and I don't get buffeted by the air unlike my previous two 4 door cars. So I really don't miss the moonroof.

+1 on the manual seats. Just more crap to break. To repair the stupid thigh support on the X5 cost me $400 and once I adjusted it I never moved it, so how did it break. Then the P/S went a few months later, even more strange...guess what...not bothering to fix that one. I was so happy to see the M2 thigh bolster was manual!

Not sure if I've said it in this moonroof thread yet but....

If you're over 6ft don't get the moonroof. You're going to have a rough time. Trust me.
