Did a 1:43.88. The afternoon heat on Sunday and traffic held me back from improving on this.

Again, not worth just burning through the tires too IMO. The car certainly has more.

I was asking because I have the same, ground control plates and MP coils, and my guy said about -2.75 was the max we could get. He said the springs were too wide.

Time for a new guy! I have been using the same shop for a long time ( in business 40 years) and I saw these specs on the Hunter myself. I was told he could probably go to -4.5 on this set up.

Watkins Glen (Long) - Mid 2:15s
Tires: Michelin Sport Cup 2
Brake Pads: PFC 08 (Castrol fluid)
Otherwise completely stock
90 degree day

First time out on track with the new M2 (two weeks old, 1,300 miles and just competed break-in service). Coming from a fairly stock 135i, the M2 felt very similar but with a big step up in overall performance. To me, the stock suspension felt very composed, neutral and predictable, even over the high curbs in the bus stop. I'd be lying though, if I didn't think a stiffer and lower setup would decrease times. It was my first time with the Sport Cups and they had tremendous grip, way better than PSS or the Direzza 2 star spec I was accustomed to. Front edges are showing good wear so camber plates are in my future. The brakes felt fantastic with my tire setup - initial bite was good - not great - but modulation was easy, stopping power was good and pedal feel was really consistent - I didn't experience any fade. Brake dust was another matter.

I think the car is good for a few more seconds. I was at the Glen for ITS (passed

) so drove fairly conservative of the time but managed to put down consistent lap times at 8.5/10. I had a great but very tiring three days. Fantastic car.

I had my first track day ever yesterday at Auto Club Speedway. I went in without track or autocross experience so I was just trying to have fun with the car.

It's sitting at about 2100 miles and the only mod is lowering springs.

Was running between 2:08-2:10 and set a best lap of 2:07 in my final session.

Those are good times at the Glen. Are the Michelin Sport Cup 2s on the OEM wheels? If not, what setup are using? Square? What size tires and wheels?

Thanks. Dipped into the high 14s by the end of my weekend, but I think my setup is good to get into 12s with a solid aggressive lap.

Yes, on OEM wheels. Running stock sizes, 245/265. I thought the car handled neutral with only very mild understeer if I went in a little hot. I don't doubt that a track dedicated set of square 18s would be faster but I live in NYC and have nowhere to store an extra set of wheels.

So I've only done 4 track days in the M2 so far. I was thinking like you that a square setup would be best however, I found the car to be very neutral on track. So now I am really questioning a move to a square setup. At this point I don't think I'll do it until I find some real evidence that it would be better than stock.

Could probably drop another 0.5 second or more with a larger pair of stones through the kink, but it's just not worth it!

My first day on Watkins Glen ever (10 track days total in my track "career"), 2:18's. Dinan coilovers, RE-71Rs, PFC 08s, SRF. Looking forward to bringing that time down today and Sunday!

The track really started to come together for me today. Ended up in the 2:13s.

No kidding. It was a PCA event, so all the GT4 guys were coming over scratching their heads. I was 1 second off an M4 GTS and Z06, but I think we'd all agree those are more capable cars than the M2.

Yeah, the GT4 is definitely a quicker car. The PCA racers at my event with stock cars on RE71Rs were only 1-2 seconds quicker. That's why they were scratching their heads. GT4s there with racing suspension and stickier rubber were 7sec quicker--with a pro driver, 10sec quicker.

1:43.9 yesterday at AMP. All stock including the awful Conti Sport 3 tires that came on the car. I'm sure there's more in it even with those tires but I'm still learning the car.

FWIW - That time is more than 6 seconds slower than my GT3 RS. I don't believe there should be that much difference given my limited driving ability.
