Week 32 schedule

I callled the Genius yesterday and got the following schedule:

7/06 Went into production
8/10 Scheduled production completion
1 wk to get to a port in Germany
2-5 wks (3 wk avg) wait for a ship
2 wks to cross the atlantic
1.5 wks to get to dealership depending on location
3 days at dealership getting prepped.

So a lengthy process it is.. I figure from all this Ill be taking delivery some time in late Sept or early Oct. Cant wait! Gives me time to sell my low mileage 135i at least.. Have to look on the bright side.

Thanks for the breakdown! I didn't realize it takes that long from completion of production to delivery.

I am week 38 and production begins in early September. I figured I should have the car by mid-November but it looks more like end of November to early December.

They're playing it safe and estimating high.

Seems long mine went into production on the 28th of June and finished on July 12th. Is there a plant shutdown or something?

There is but it probably didn't affect your build time - that seems normal from what others have said.

Genius told me last month to expect September 19th’ish for delivery on my Week 32

Everyone here tells me that’s impossible.

Here’s to the impossible

I'm in the "same boat" as you... ...haha get it?

Week 32 and I assume you're a SoCal delivery also. I assume the cars will get delivered to the Port of Long Beach (LA) and go from there, right? Or do they get delivered at some other port and trucked.

Anyone have any clue on this process?

SoCal cars go through Port Heuneme, not Long Beach.

I've tracked many BMW orders through this process - the last was in 2015. It took about 2 weeks to go from offloading in Hueneme to delivery at dealership in Santa Barbara. That was a tad longer than usual to get from port to dealer - typically it happens a bit quicker than that. I think mine was delayed a couple of days at the VPC to fix a very minor bit of damage to the paint on the edge of the spoiler that I spotted during ED. They did a fabulous job repairing it - perhaps they just replaced the spoiler completely - cuz I cannot detect any flaw at all now.

I'm week 33, and I'll be overjoyed if it's in my hands before the end of October. To manage my own expectations, I'm telling myself 1st week of November.

Ahh thanks. Just assumed it came in through Long Beach like everything else...

Hey everyone, been keeping up with this site a lot. Ordered early june..Got a week 33 build (from Hendricks BMW).. status 150 ..eta completion 8/16 .. doing a PCD..got a confirmation email from them for a Oct 13 pick up in Spartanburg.. they said they plan on receiving the car about 2 weeks in advance.. of course it can change. Hope this helps others in figuring out when theirs comes!! Drove a 2011 mx5 special edition manual.. sold it at a good price .. already miss it... But looking forward to the M2!

Also got the $2500 fleet discount.. but I had originally placed order in March at another dealer and they couldn't fulfill the order because .. they didn't give a reason.. so I called BMW customer relations.. etc.. and they honored it even at another dealer. Can give more details if anyone is interested..

This pretty much lines up with the Sept 19 date I got for my Week 32. I’m
on the West Coast though and I don’t think the Genius accounted for that.

With Week 27s being delivered this week it looks like my Genius wasn’t too far off when she said “best case scenario September 19th West Coast” and a week earlier for the rest of you.

Wow... Amazing.. When does 'Best Case' ever happen.. Probably will happen now bringing my 8/10 wk 32 production car to me in early-mid september instead of about a month later which would have been about the mid range of the Genius Estimate, short circuiting my time to sell my 135i.
