Wk 32-36 Production Status?

It seems like a lot of people have been reporting that their week 32 - 36 have started production, status 150. I called this morning and mine is still not in production. I've been moved from week 35 to 37 to 32 to 33. Has anyone experienced this? It seems like most people are advancing and if I get moved back again, I may have to look into getting another vehicle in the mean time.

Who in the week 32-36 production weeks have already been moved to status 150?

FYI, according to the Genius, the summer vacation already happened in June.

I was week 35, then moved to week 37. Dealer called me last thursday and told me the car went into production status 150. Called genius and confirmed production started and was told week 34 now.

Similar story. Started at wk 35, got pushed to 37, then to 33. Just called genius, still 33, NOT yet in production. I have a call in to my CA to see if he knows anything different.

Talk to your CA and see if they will send you a picture of their screen. Genius told me that I was in production scheduled for completion Aug 9th. I told my CA and he checked his system and then sent a photo showing status 150.

I wonder why week 32 and 34 have started production but 33 hasn't... If week 34 has started, then wouldn't those cars be finished before 33? I can't make any sense of this.

I just called BMW genius about my week 32 and they said production started on July 10...with an estimated completion date of August 14

Yeah - it is curious. My take is that the week 34's that are in production, actually got bumped ahead to week 32. If that were the case, then it all makes sense.

I called my CA today - I am wk 33, status 112. Not in production.

Yet.

My week 32 build started production on 7/10 and is scheduled to complete on 8/12. My build week has not changed since the allocation came in and the order was booked. I guess I've been lucky!

I ordered a week 35 car last week. I'll check today if I've been bumped around in order

Ok - I have a theory that would sync with all of the actual facts we've heard.

First - I don't believe Leipzig already did summer holidays in June - despite the fact Genius told you that. Knowing how Euro summer traditions work (my wife is from Italy - I've spent lots of time there), June just seems way too early for the summer shut-down. And in 2016, it was in late July. So to attempt to confirm this, I emailed the Leipzig plant. I got this back (translated from German):
Dear sender,
Thank you for your message.
We would like to ask you for your understanding that we will be able to answer your request as of 7th August 2017 due to operational holidays.
For information on the management and booking requirements, please call us on 089-382-15750 or at any time online at www.bmw-besuchen.com.
Best regards
BMW Group Werk Leipzig
Presse- und Öffentlichkeitsarbeit
So it sounds to me like they are currently "out of office", and not back until Aug 7. That does imply a 3 week shutdown - which seems one week too long, but it makes sense with the facts we've all reported here. Note that Aug 7 is the beginning of week 32 - bear with me ..

Assuming that no work is done for the 3 weeks commencing July 17, and assuming that build weeks are indicators of the week-of-completion of the build process, and that it takes about 2 weeks for a car to go through production then I propose the following is true:

1) There are no Week 29, 30 or 31 build weeks. Can anybody here say that they have one of these build weeks? These 3 build weeks correspond to the implied shutdown from July 17 through Aug 7.

2) For a wk 32 car to get the required 2 weeks of build-time, it would have to start production in week 28, sit idle for weeks 29, 30 & 31, and complete build in week 32. And as several wk32 folks have reported, they started production on July 10 (wk 28) and have been given estimated completion dates of Aug 12 & 14. Week 32 ends on Aug 13, so I'd say that still fits in to an estimated completion in week 32.

3) For a wk 33 car to get its required 2 weeks of build-time, it can consume weeks 32 and 33. So wk 33 cars needn't start production until Aug 7 to be able achieve production complete in wk 33. So it makes sense that week 33 cars have not yet gone to status 150 (start of production).

The only piece of info that doesn't fit this model is the person (cowboy114) who said they were week 34, and already went to status 150. My hunch is that they got lucky, and actually got bumped to week 32.

So does anybody have facts that would disprove this theory? For instance does anybody have a build week of 29, 30 or 31?

Did Genius give you an estimated production-complete date? My hunch is you've been bumped to week 32 (see my post from a moment ago). But if your completion date is in the week of Aug 21-27, you are indeed week 34 - and it blows a hole in my theory about Leipzig's summer shutdown.

Sorry - ocd in overdrive ...

If you're anything like the rest of us, you'll be moved to week 33!

I placed an order for my 2018 M2 on June 26 and was given a week 36 production date. I checked in with BMW genius yesterday as well as my CA and the car status was moved to 150 on July 10 with a new production date of August 12/week 32. Not sure how that happened. My dealer here in South Florida claims to be one of the top 3 "M" volume dealers in the US, so maybe I got lucky and was moved up because of that?

Congrats on the bump up!

And 1 more data point supporting my theory - a wk 32 build that went SOP (150) on July 10 (wk 28).

my dealer called 7/13/17 and told me it went into production status 150 with an Estimate production date 8/23/17. He even sent me a pic on his computer screen.

I called genius right after the dealer and they told me week 34.

Well this sorta blows a hole in my theory. But only the 150 part. Production date of 8/23/17 is indeed wk 34. The weird thing is why are you already in status 150? Can't explain that. Is there something unique about your build? Are you doing ED?

jjclyde's theory seems to be spot on. Below is the message I received from BMW visitor service desk earlier this week.

I'm also a wk32 build (Aug12) that went 150 on July 10.

Thank you for your message.

Yes, the summer holiday started already and will end on 08.08.2017.

I just called BMW Genius and was told my build week is week 33. The person I spoke with told me that this is when the vehicle starts production and it should be finished 2 weeks after that. Is this correct? I thought the build week was when the vehicle finished production?
