There was another LBB M2 that recently arrived, blacked out grills and some CF bits.

Wished the seat went lower but happy so far!

Sat in my first M2 today. A AW one showed up at my dealership, had exec, black grills, CF mirror caps, and pedals.

It's pending sale, the person who ordered is trying to figure out what to do with their current car.

I immediately noticed I liked the interior CF trim, actually thought it was M performance trim, but it doesn't look like it. Did not like the steering wheel, leather seemed a bit cheap compared to my old E93 M3 plus it's thin, and the shift knob seemed small. I know, the stupid things we first notice.

I was only in the car for a minute, didn't want to feel up some other guy's car....

I kinda agree the leather on the steering wheel is not the best feeling - I recall my old 135i having nicer feeling leather. I think it feels thinner because some of the older BMW steering wheels might have a bit more cushioning to them.

Mine has left VDC and is on a slow boat to Hawaii. Unless it hasn't. Bmw info says it's left but the dealer says that may not be correct, and that the shipping company isn't super reliable.

The most recent estimate is sometime in early or mid August.

So about 17 months from when I put in my deposit.

So cars that go to Hawaii, still go to VPC, before getting into a new boat... Were you able to track that level of detail through the genius line?

I guess that's what will happen to my car as well... It's just about to get to port in Georgia!

That's actually pretty disappointing to hear, I love the feel of my M3's steering wheel.

I think BMw can tell when it leaves VPC, but then that's it until it shows up at your dealer.

I was on the same ship as rouxeny from Bremerhaven and yes it goes through VPC before the next ship to Hawaii.

And no, the BMW Genius line does not track it after it arrives in California, as I called them and they informed me that from there, your local dealer will do the tracking. They were correct, I contacted my CA and he sent me a BMW dealer screen shot of all the expected trucking, VDC, ship and also competed dates. It will take approximately another 3-4 weeks after arrival in California before it reaches Hawaii

Now that I've had the car for a bit, I think it's actually the leather itself that feels a bit cheap/thin, as there seems to be a decent bit of padding/squishiness underneath.

Nah, not a huge fan of Alcantara on the steering wheel.

I'm really curious, but I've never had an alcantara wheel and I don't know how it would do in our heat and humidity.

Alcantara blows for anything that humans touch regularly. Skin oils screw it up, the constant touch screws it up... it is a cheap shitty material that marketing companies have made us all think is "fancy." Good leather is far nicer.

The only plusses to Alcantara are that it is lighter and that when it's new, it is grippy... but that doesn't last.

Nick Murray of Youtube has a nice piece on it here (he's no Shmee150 or any of those wankers with billions of followers, but I think he's funny and he has pretty good production quality for a YT video):

Did all you week 21 owners receive your cars?

We still have to wait about 10-14 more days here in Hawaii.

Thumbs up

I took initial delivery of my M2 last week in Phoenix (July 20th) and then had it shipped to California. Arrived at my place yesterday (July 26th).
