Camber plate recommendation

Looking for camber plate recommendations for my M2 from people that actually have them. Let me give some background. I have Dinan nonadjustable camber plates on my E36 M3 and E90. I also had them on my E82 135is. I loved these plates as all I needed was just enough camber to let me go to the track without wasting my front tires. On my E82 I used the Dinan camber plates and had the alignment set to -1.5 and it was perfect, I had a square setup and actually wore my tires evenly with rotation. No excessive outer edge wear on the fronts. It was a set and forget setup that I used on both the street and the track.

Ideally I could get the same for the M2 but I called Dinan and they said they would love to make them as these plates are still extremely popular sellers but the M2 strut towers won't allow it.

So with all that background. What recommendations do you all have for a set and forget camber plate.

I'm using the Ground Control setup. Easy adjustment.

I'm less concerned about easy adjustment since I want to set and forget. I guess I wasn't specific on my priorities.

Absolutely zero noise.

You won't find an adjustable camber plate that makes zero noise, its just inherent with the design. When you go from the stock rubber mount to a camber plate that is a series of metal bearings there is going to be increased NVH.

I don't have the adjustment manual to post but it's not that hard, just jack the car up, loosen a few bolts, slide the plate, and tighten.

HOWEVER - I was planning on adjusting back and forth between track and street trim. On the M2, this is not a good idea. While the car was on the alignment rack, we took the time to align the car to -2.5 degrees camber with 0 toe, then adjust back to 0 degrees of camber for street and re-measure everything. Unfortunately, toe gets adjusted by ridiculous amounts when you adjust for camber. If you switch back and forth between camber settings your toe will be so out of wack that you will cause rapid wear on street and track. So I settled on a full time compromise of -2.5 camber and zero toe. I wish I could do -3 with a bit of toe in on track, but the wear on the street would be too great.

Do the plates work with stock suspension or do you have to go aftermarket?

Thanks for sharing. I was wondering about that. That's unfortunate, but not unlike past 3 series experiences. sigh...

TCKR is a good choice in the set and forget type of plates.

That is true. There is always an increase in NVH with nonoball camber plates. Some of us is just not as sensitive so NVH is all.

I used both the GC and Vorshlag plates on my E30 and I have Vorshlag plates on my 1M.

Much like the 1M.. Camber plates are likely a necessory for guys that track their M2.

I prefer the Vorshlag plates, because in my direct experience with the older designs.. they do make less noise than GC plates..

it looks like Ground Control is on the scene and readily available for the M2 with an adjustable plate design.

I'll agree with others.. asking for a Camber plate to have ZERO guaranteed additional NVH over stock is like asking for track pads that don't create dust.

Maybe see if GC is going to offer a street camber plate for the M2, like they do other models.

You'll get a poly bushing vs. the spherical. Softer riding and quieter vs. the standard plate, although the bushings can wear out over say, 5 years, they are independently replaceable.

I bought and installed some TCKline plates. So far additional NVH is small and I'm happy.

i had TCK camber plates in my previous e90 m3. they were good but developed a bit of clunking when front end went over bumps. very sensitive to the strut nut being torqued correctly. developed after a few hundred miles and several days of track use. if you do start to hear it, you might check the strut nut.

but maybe different for m2. this was back in 2011 so i'm sure things have changed.

Had Ground Controls installed last week. No noise at all. Set at -2 degrees, .16" total toe.

Anyone tinkered around with an alignment rack to see how much toe changes with 1 degree adjustment?
