That's the answer. Be faster. Be lighter. Shoot the gap.

Better answer: Go to a race track to race.

That explains it. Thanks.

Wait. No it doesn't. You're saying if that POS was in a lighter, faster car he could have shot the gap and avoided this accident and somehow everything would be okay?

Just put idiots in faster, lighter cars. That will solve everything.

Sorry to be so pissy. My wife and I were taken out by an idiot like this and we ended up flying off the freeway, flipping car and using trees and fences to slow us down. The little phucker in the Honda Civic that thought he was trying out for a part in Fast and Furious until he lost control and took out our car and changed our lives forever.

I'm not sure that's the same car. The Infiniti in the video didn't look like it touched the truck, and the passenger airbag deployed from hitting the BMW. This one in the picture has the driver's side banged up and the driver side airbag deployed.

Unless that is just a representative picture. The license plate appears to be grayed out in the picture.

While the driver is definitely a POS, how is the car a hunk of sh!t? G37s are actually decent cars, and the coupe doesn't weigh over 4,000 lbs.

Well I?m sorry for what happened. But you cannot control how people act unfortunately. I wasn?t suggesting put stupid people in faster cars. Infinity have always made half assed cars that younger stupider people could afford and be careless with. I was just taking a dig at infinity as a brand I was not defending the drivers actions nor was I condoning it.

It's time it's pointed out

This is more like "typical" around here...

Paper or 'dealer plates'

This one ( STG )
being quite popular around these parts these days...often found on not at all ' new ' cars and more often found on stolen or
cars used in crimes such as hit and run.

Ironically - one is on the victims car seen here: lol

Yep. Was scanning this thread for a post like this.

They usually go like "Yep! BMW engineering!"

Or "Yep! Mercedes engineering!" or

insert your favorite brand engineering.

Not, really. Cars today are all more or less equal in terms of safety. Although as violent as that seems on the video, it wasn't that bad as the car more or less gently slid under that big rig side. Had that BMW hit the side of that trailer directly while driving perpendicular at say 20mph or so, the roof would've sheered off like tissue paper instantly decapitating the driver-- as it would with ANY car.

BMW engineering (today) is pretty good, but so is any new car on the market from any brand. The survival of these particular people in this crash wasn't really due to any engineering of some sort, just the luck of how the impact occurred. And how the big rig driver came to a gradual slow stop and drag instead of overreacting and jackknifing--that could've been very bad.

Either way, glad they didn't get hurt. Hope the G37 dude is caught.

And another point, frankly, a more intervenous (did I spell that right) stability control system may have helped prevent a slide under to begin with. The impact could've proven too much though for the adhesion limit of the tires, thus inability for DSC to do much. Maybe a set of sticky tires could've helped maintain the line.

I'm more impressed with the one that fell out of the parking garage. I mean, didn't you see Fast and the Furious? The first one?? Honda Civics slid under big rigs all day with underglow kits on! All bullshit aside though, I whole heartedly believe that there are a lot of other cars that would have had a corpse inside upon opening the door.

Really, they have always made half assed cars? Nor did I realize cars priced in the high 30k to low 50k range were so affordable to "younger stupider people". I guess you could lump all the Subaru WRX and pony/muscle cars of various brands into that category as well. I suppose on the contrary, BMW owners must be so affluent and educated and would never behave in such a manner. No, it just sounds like you are an ignorant brand snob.

I?m a brand snob because I don?t like the same cars as you do? And also I didn?t even compare them to bmw which would indicate that I?m even brand whoring bmw. I see them as cheap overpriced nissans. Sorry you got upset but if you like them so much you should just go get one. The new Q60 looks nice.
