I keep going back and forth on my decision to go without the moonroof. My last 2 cars (2015 Subaru STi and 2011 VW GTI) did not have a moonroof, but my car before those vehicles (2006 Audi S4) had one... and I remember using it a decent amount. I’m 6 feet tall, so I don’t think headroom will be an issue either way. The M2 will be my daily driver, and won’t be a track car. If it was like the M3/4 and came with the carbon roof my decision would be so much easier |

I waited for BMW to build M2s with sunroofs for the US market. When they enabled the option again in 2018, I switched from a M3 to an M2. There is a large group of people on this forum who are not fans of sunroofs and many discussion threads debating the pros and cons. I use the sunroofs in my cars daily and love the air. I doubt that I will track the M2 so the helmet issue is not an issue for me.

I didn't specifically wait for the sunroof for the M2, but I am so glad it's available now for my order. I am 5"11, have the M235i (with sunroof) now and while I need to lower the seat a lil bit when I do track, it's still very comfortable.

I can understand forgoing the moonroof option if you plan to track the car often. I have no plans to track mine, so I optioned one in. I really enjoy having it open, especially on the drive home from work.

I don’t necessarily plan on tracking it either. I guess I have a week or so to decide while my order is still modifiable.

BMW USA website now shows my order as “Production Begins” and shows the exterior color, etc. So I called the BMW Genius, and they’re saying it started production yesterday, Nov 13, and will be complete on Nov 25. After production they said 4-6 weeks until its available at the dealership.
