The fact of the matter is this. The price of the car and for what you get is second to none. The M2 I have ordered is 100k driveway in Australia, and a friend of mine who bought an M4 paid 183k driveway (DCT transmission).

Do I expect the M2 to be just as good as the M3/M4? Hell no, it's not the same car but then look at the difference in price. Why would BMW make an M2 just as good as an M3/M4 but for a lot less money? No one would ever buy an M3/M4 anymore.

Each to their own, but the way the M2 looks doesn't bother so me so much when I am sitting there grinning from ear to ear because of how it drives.

I went to Brussels yesterday and sat in the M2.
(FYI, I owned an Estoril Blue M235i auto few months ago).

My feelings :
- It looks better in real life
- I definitely don't like the Long Beach Blue
- It looks good, but I'm not "in love". Something is missing
- The interior is pretty much identical to the M235i, excepted for the alcantara on the doors and the DCT knob.

Availability : 1 YEAR

YEP, that was May/June before the weekend. Now, the 130 M2 allocated for Belgium are sold out. We have to wait the beginning of 2017.
They wanted to sell me a M3 or M4 with a good discount. But it's still 10-15.000€ more expensive.

I think I'll go for a used low mileage F80 M3 instead

Wait till you see it in person! IMHO the proportions are second to none in the BMW line up at the moment. Length /width/front overhang etc.
It looks gorgeous. Even more than F80 M3 and F10 M5(proportionwise, not size)

That 1 year statement is not true. there will be 4 years produced with LCI. Please don't spread incorrect information.

That's ok, don't bother explaining , I'm sure he thinks production is " unlimited " and because it's being produced for more than one year.... the 5 year demand for this car will vanish and it will be easy to pick one of these up in 6 months.

I think that the production time frame for the M2 is sufficiently long enough that there will be time for competion from other manufacturers to surface. I wouldn't be surprised if good deals on the M2 might be 2 years or less away. I met a guy at the gas station driving an M235 just like mine. He bought his a few months after its release and paid over MSRP because they were very difficult to get, wait lists etc. I bought mine 18 months later and was able to get 13% off of US MSRP by doing a European Delivery.

You take that as I think it's unlimited? What I'm trying to get at is a lot of people are trying to say this car is like the 1M only available for a year which is simply not true.

If I misunderstood his meaning that's fine.
But for some reason because you've toured the factory you think this car will be as limited as or very close to the number of the 1M?
I've actually worked at auto factory planning and there are lots they can do to increase production cap.

Not saying they did made changes, but you telling everyone to get on a list now or they will never get one does not make sense. Especially it'll be at least four years of production.

I actually agree to most of the stuff you say on here, but i think this is the one point we disagree. Guess we will see who's right soon enough

I wonder if the f chassis JB4 will be compatible with the m2. I mean it's still a n55 engine and not a s55 so it could work, but I'm sure it's totally redone. So idk would be nice if it did.

Now that's a terrific achievement and some real "M"otoring passion!

A normal and ordinary car as a VW Golf has always had water temperature gauge and from about 2012 an electronic oil temperature reading accessible in the normal menu, an exquisite modern M generously (and with great relief) totally "spoils" his entitled public with this...

It looks to be just the water temp, oil temp rising will cost far more driving time to achieve 80 degrees Celsius, that is minimum oil temp for real sporty driving mode.

So far this gauge does not convince me what so ever, it loos a little pathetic for a M car !

I don`t like the alcantara feel ( very artificial, swaetty feel ) I had the alcantara steering wheel in my Cayman GTS, good Lord, never ever again, give me the leather version anytime.....

The NET price ISN'T really low. I've live in the Netherlands and have done for fifteen years. The net price in Holland is quite a bit more than the UK and Germany, and you have a LOT less standard on the car too.

Netherlands NET price for M3 = EUR 68,538

Germany NET price for M3 = EUR 60,000

UK NET price for M3 = EUR 59,772 (at current exchange rates)

So the UK price is nearly EUR 10,000 LESS than in Holland, and the UK car comes with most of the options standard. The Dutch car you have to spec quite a lot to get to the same equipment as the UK car.

And yet I could walk into a UK dealer and get 10-15% discount on that NET price. It just doesn't make sense.

My calculation showed something else as a Dutch guy who lived for 33 years in NL and is really happy he left the country...

I've bought a f80 and a f83 in 07/2014 and 02/2015 in the uk and exported it to Belgium. The money you saved was humongous! First there was the exchange rate, then the 10% dealer discounts. And with all the "free" options in the uk these deal were mind blowing.

With the exchange rate changing the difference wasn't that big any more so I bought another f80 at my local dealer. I also ordered their HEA demo M2 car.

With the exchange rates changing the last few weeks the U.K. Route is getting interesting again.

So I mailed my uk contact for a price quote and eta yesterday and got this answer:

"If ordered now the delivery date will definitely be 2017, and there will be no discounts. There are still the same discounts on M3/M4. "

So getting an M2 will definitely be much harder than getting an M3/M4. Just saying. Let alone getting the same deals as I got on M3/M4.

I don't know what you're talking about. The point is, you said the "NET" price is much lower in the Netherlands so the dealers can't give the same discounts, which is not true at all, as I've just shown you with the figures that are available online for anybody to see.
