I thought these were coming out in 3 month batches? Or has that changed?

I went back and read a thread from Jan. I can't figure out how to link to the other thread. Question was asked when the April, May, June allocations would come out. Answer was 2nd week in March. I beleive this to mean that dealers will be notified the 2nd week of March of their 2nd QTR allocations.

Someone please correct and scold me but please understand I'm a senstive dude.

Oh okay, news to me man.. I know as much as everyone else here, which is near nothing. I know there is a thread titles q2 allocations that had them coming out 2nd week of February. Allegedly some did come out that week..

Sorry I didn't mean to confirm or deny anything man. Just what I've read on here.

With that said I'd be pumped if some do come out next week! That would be awesome. I'm waiting for that special call saying I got an allocation myself!

Per my CA, two weeks until we know more on allocations.

It doesn't appear that BMW is doing the quarterly allocations for the M2 at this point. It seems they've gone back to the regular method of releasing them the month before production.

Thank you for this response. I asked because last year it seemed dealers were notified the second week of the month each quarter. But then things seemed to be all over the place in December/Jan/Feb; this would explain it. I'm anxiously awaiting some good news from my CA in the next few months.

Anyone have figures for yearly allocations in the US? I saw the figure of 1,400 posted for MY16. Also saw "guesses" that MY17 would be about 2,000.

Assuming the 6-week turnaround for shipping from Germany to the US, that means yours will be built in late March, so it would have been a Q1 allocation. That said, being told your production number in February, being about a month out correlates with M2 allocations being monthly rather than quarterly.

That matches what the CA told me when I went in to finalize the order. Production estimate starts last week or two of March. I should have written down exactly what he said but I was just so damn excited to have my number I was too busy smiling like a jackwagon. The 1-800 number/website doesn't have anything official yet other than the color is right. There may be something to this month by month allocation as I had a friend get an allocation within days of me and both of us thought it would be another few months based on what was going on last year.

This is incorrect. There were 713 MY16 North American M2's (USA + Canada) including the press cars.

1,400 is probably the number of allocations for 2016, MY16 + MY17. For MY17 (cars sold in 2016 and 2017 combined) number should be 1,500-1,800.

M2 available at MSRP

For those that do not wish to wait for the next round of allocation for a car, I have one available, due to arrive by the end of the month at a dealer in New York on Long Island at MSRP. I have a sudden change in circumstances and will not be able to take deliver of the M2 I ordered. Only looking to get my deposit back from the dealer and give him a new buyer so I do not feel so bad backing out of my order. Will post full details in a new thread.

Build:
2017 M2
LBB
Executive Package
Apple Car Play
6MT

Shipping averages only 14 days.

It will be getting the mandatory backup camera as well. Aside from those 3 things, I'm not sure. I will ask my CA again today to see if they have any new updates for the 18MY.

I've got an estimated date of September for pick up at the SCPC. I've confirmed with my CA that it will be an 18MY as well . I put my deposit down a few or couple of weeks ago, I don't know.. It seems like it's been over a month, but I'm sure that's just the impatience lol.

I was just told that my dealership had received their allocations for other models but didn't get an M2 except for one AW PE. Would the M2 allocations come at a different time than their other cars? I was promised one for this month a while ago but I'm becoming concerned. If it's pushed out to an April order, would that be a '18 LCI?

Nope, same time. And your dealer overpromised - if you didn't get one NOW than it'll be pushed out.

Hard to say if April will be MY18 or not and the LCI is still unconfirmed (but almost guaranteed). If they're announcing month before production like they usually do, you'll be getting a MY17.

Thanks for the response. He said something to the effect that there currently 112 in code 112 (coincidence) and less than 20 in 111. Is that all there will be for US March orders? How many of these are they allocating a month? I speak w/manager tomorrow...

Not many - probably 100 allocations or so for the month, if not less since they're slowing down MY17. EDIT: it could be low production month too. We saw times last year when only 4 M2's were produced in a week.

FYI this has been going on since the start, too many people overpromising things and not enough cars. Read up on some of the forum and don't believe anything anyone says until you have a production number in your hands.
