Most US dealerships receiving M2 allocations have had their sales rep tell them their 2016 calendar year allotment.

Then why is it that my CA tells me they don't know how many allotments they are getting. Is he telling me that because he truly doesn't know or is he lying to me. I am #3 in line at my dealer and he's been telling me i am in a good position since last year when put a deposit in. He's been pretty good keeping me updated. Just don't know if to trust what he is saying. THanks for the help guys.

Probably because they don't actually have any coming to their knowledge.

Every dealer that's "supposedly" getting cars has been told the number of allocations for the year.

Not all US dealerships are receiving M2 allocations this year, not even a demo car.

This.

My dealer only got a launch car. That's it for the entire calendar year for them.

Lmao. That's not even comparable albeit a nice suv! So enjoy it. I test drove it a while back.

The more I read on about this, the more grateful I am that I swapped my allocation for a launch car.

Personally, I think BMW never intended on producing 2016s aside from HEAs. These were just testers.

I think 2017 will get a bump in price, sunroof option and maybe an additional color or something.

So calendar year meaning all of MY2016 or will they get any new allotments for MY2017 with production starting this July ?

Yup. Crazy!

Try to get a launch car. People have been posting here and there as they encounter them. Good luck!

I'm curious where this info came from. I am #1 on list at a major M dealer in a wealthy area outside Philly and just talked to my CA.

He searched in "the system" and found exactly 433 (443?) 2016 cars---which roughly translates into 1 HEA car per dealer plus a small handful of customer cars.

However, he was clear with me that that was just the list of M2s with a MY2016 against them.

In other words, that did NOT include any potential allocations of cars to be produced in July or later of this year as MY2017s.

Both the finance manager and my CA told me that my M2 would be the only M2 their dealership would receive this year. Every dealership will have different allocations so

How do you know if they are getting 5 cars? My CA seems to not know how man hes getting.
that's what the GM/SM said. seems to be a common theme with the 4 dealers I am speaking with. all of them told me their yearly allotment. I found this strange initially bc when I asked about their M3 YEARLY allotment and they didn't know bc they are assigned monthly.

it could be BS, but I'm trying to have faith. common sense tells me that if I'm #1 and they are getting 5 fit the year and the HEAs are in/done with production that I will get a '16.

I can't comprehend how you build only one car for the '16 MY (HEAs were built in Jan, Feb or Mar), but then not build any now cars for 4 months??? doesn't make sense

What dealership is this, I am outside of Philly to? Dealer just got one HEA. No allocations yet.

Not sure this is true 100%. Apparently BMW NA gave out allocations up till May. Which would be June builds and be MY2016.

They can still give out allocations the rest of the year, starting the month of June. Which would be a July build week and a MY2017. At least, this is my current understanding.

Ok, thanks. I am just trying to figure this all out as well. Surely they are going to release more. It appears they only have like 300 or so 2016 models tho.... which could be a good and bad thing whether you own one.

In order to release more, they have to build more. In order to do that they have to increase production. IMO, production won't increase without retooling or decreasing production of other models.

Understood. Do we know they are for sure making MY2017 M2s?

From previous post -

"This allocation represents the last of the MY16 production. Due to the extremely large order bank we will convert Model Year 2016 order bank requests into Model Year 2017 order bank requests."

So, surely we will see new allocations soon? I am just trying to find out, because I will jump on an HEA now if I have too, even though I am first on a list, but no allocation.

We know for sure they are not making MY2017 M2s. Those will start production in July.

Again, new allocations are a possibility if BMW decides to increase production. This is extremely unlikely in the short term, but perhaps later this year.

We know for sure they are NOT?

Did you word that wrong?

Maybe I should fine one now then... instead of waiting.
