I agree that the M2 is going to attract most of the enthusiasts. I would love to have one myself. However, I paid $44,500. +tax/liscense for my fully loaded M235i. The M235i is still a great car and a similarly equipped M2 has a US MSRP of $57,395. That is $12,895. difference in price. I haven't heard many people getting a deal below US MSRP on the M2. Worth it? Maybe. I'll wait and see how the dust settles.

Infact the norm is you negotiate deals on new car purchases, regardless if the model is new or or if it´s very popular as is the case with the M2. However in the US this seems to be not that uncommon when it comes to cars with very high demand/short supply like the GT350 and Focus RS or Cayman gt4. |

I think they would only do that if total potential sales were consequently reduced. However, dealers selling more are granted more, so there is an incentive to make prices attractive. Dealership competition provides the buyer with a marketplace to shop around and to consider not doing business with those engaging in undesirable business practices (such as gouging).

I am #1
I am #1 at Houston West. So I was told and put in my order for the launch model, no color change other than LBB but that just got revised.
So this is my order: Alpine White DCT Exec package Destination charge Total price: $56845 No discount although I did ask for it April production. We are looking May delivery. This has to be the easiest sale for this sales guy! |

USA Invoice Pricing - via Autoblog
New subscriber, hopeful future M2 owner, first post.
So, I was using the Autoblog app on my iPhone, and decided to check on the M2 under the 'Research New Cars' section. They have the retail and invoice pricing posted: Retail: $51,700 Invoice: 48,065 0.9297, or 93% of retail price. I didn't see this posted anywhere here, but saw lots of people asking about it. -rb |

So I could see charging out of state buyers a premium since they will not service the car there but across the board sticking it to customers doesn't seem to make sense. Unless the my understanding is incorrect. |

Agree. You would think the owner who does car would not allow sales to negatively image the dealership's long-term image for a few thousand for a few cars.
