My dealer has been calling every time there is something news worthy so I'm sure the second pricing is known he'll be all over me.
Is it true they can't charge more than msrp in Canada? |

I haven't put any deposit down yet but my local SA said on Fri that unless you put something down by Dec then likely hood of getting one in 2016 is 0. But then again a sales person will say anything to get you to buy.

Hi all,
Longtime lurker, first time poster. TLDR; Dealer tried to sell me an m235i Performance Edition for 60k. Knowledgeable sales guy speculated the M2 would be 3-5k more. MSRP for M2 in Canada: ~63-65k. I'm in the GTA and was at my dealership at the end of September to see if I could get on their allocation list for the M2. The end result is that I am #2 on the list with a 1k deposit. But the reason I am posting is to provide what little information I have about the MSRP speculation on the M2 in Canada: While I was at the dealer, they tried to sell me an m235i Performance Edition they had on the lot. I figured it would be a good exercise to go through with them to try and get a better handle on what the price point on the M2 will be. Attached you will find the quote for the m235i Performance Edition - The MSRP as you can see is $59 900. I had a very lengthy discussion with one of the sales guys (who ironically owns an m235i Performance Edition) about the M2 and what he thought the price would be when it finally became available. This guy was very knowledgeable and he was speculating that the MSRP on the M2 would be between 3-5k more than the m235i Performance Edition they were trying to sell me at 60k. Based on this information, I think it very unlikely that we will see the M2's price point in Canada under 60k. |

RamDac, would this happen to be at Budds in Oakville?
They had a black performance edition coming in in October that they were trying to sell me on aswell (this was back in late august/early sept). I told him if i was going to shell out that kind of coin i may as well wait to see what the M2 would be all about... The SA also speculated that the M2 would come in at mid 60's... my guess in detail would be 59,900 without Navigation, then 4K for navigation etc i have finally made up my mind, if the car is 65K+ i would rather spend 70+ on a cayman S |

keep in mind the base m235 is 45K so if the m2 base is 65K we are talking about a 20K price gap when the USA price gap is only 6800USD i will meet you half way and say its a mixture of fantasy and reality

My dealer's guess was and still is $59990 CDN. We're also thinking the car isn't going to have many boxes to check. Looking at what ROW gets as included, we're looking at the M2 in Canada having most M235i options as standards to fall in line with what M3/4 come with.
I don't honestly think 60k is a fantasy, the 1M was only $57k or something from what my SA said.

Yeah, most likely a base price of 59,000k cdn plus taxes. So your looking at 65k Cdn minimum. The 1M was 65k plus taxes fully loaded. I looked at a few 1M with 1,500kms and 600kms. They are asking $56,900 and $58,000 plus taxes respectively. The M2 is definitely the better car and you get 4 years warranty. I am 2nd on the list at my dealership with $2,500 deposit. Looking at a base white or long beach blue. I want to keep at 65k and $750 per month payments. If the M2 will be more, I will walk, too much competition and better value to be had with other cars.

also just to add, the cayman S starts at around 73K im just guessing based on friends experiences that you could probably get 5% off if you are good at negotiating, that brings the base down to 69K, the M2 id imagine you would have to pay MSRP i dont think it would be possible to go under..so yeah if M2 is 65K and cayman S can be negotiated down to 69K makes the decision even easier for me

in my thinking i feel i am not well off enough financially to pay a premium for a car due to the fact that it is of limited production, i would rather put my money into a car that is priced solely on quality and performance

Lets all not forget how awful the Canadian dollar is doing right now. it's not going to help the price of a new release any. It's especially useless to compare the cost in Canada to the US at this time...

^^ Some manufacturers are eating some of that currency difference. For example, a fully loaded Focus RS is $46,969 here; a comparably equipped US car is about $11k CAD more after the currency conversion. Maybe BMW will do the same?

Thanks for posting that pic of your m235i Performance Edition - imho, still the nicest one I have seen. I'm glad I had the opportunity to get up close and personal, seeing that thing IRL is even more impressive. I'm sure that I speak for us all when I say that I can't wait to have solid info from BMW Canada on the MSRP of the M2! I'll definitely be checking these forums neurotically, just like I have been for the last six months or so. |
