I saw the list of all M2 active post production orders in BMW system, there were 33 total couple days ago.

The first M2 in SF Bay area is going to East Bay BMW, "2 - Customer sold" of course, I forgot the exact day but some time in April. You might want to drive there to see.

With allocations still not released to dealers, If the dealer gets 5 allocations for the year and I end up number 4 on the order list does that mean I could still get my order by the summer or most likely not till the end of 2016?

I'm sure it's different for each dealer.

Depends on if year means model year or calendar year. With 2016 production ending in June, if model year, you'll have the car by end of August. Otherwise, later on in the year. With allocations being released monthly, your dealer won't know annual numbers for certain so if they say "yeah we're getting 5 for the calendar year" they are guessing based on what they get in April.

When the dealers were told by their reps "for the year", calendar vs model year was not specified. My dealer has no idea.

In Canada it was for 2016 the year (i.e. April - Dec)

I am 3rd of 3 2016 allocation at my dealer, also in Canada. Mine is scheduled for November production - maybe they initially meant MY with their allocations but with production issues have switched it to calendar year. My order quote says MY2016, but I expect they will call me to give me the "news" it is bumped to MY2017 sometime.

Possible they will stretch the model year production to honour their initial allocation, but switching it to cover the entire calendar year seems doubtful.

I assume they will make some kind of token change to differentiate the MY2017s.

Nothing yet and my dealer checks every morning for me to see if they released allocations yet. I have the number 1 spot.

My dealer hasn't gotten them yet but he was informed he will only get 8 for the 16 MY. He's a pretty big volume dealer and has 20 ppl on his list for one.

With 16MY EOP in June, 8 allocations over 3 months seems pretty good. Will be interesting to see how good his info actually is.

Actually talking to him further I "telephoned" that. Hes saying he's getting 8 for the physical 2016 year not model year.

It will be interesting to see how many he actually gets.

If a " big volume dealer " gets just 8 in a year...

And there are 360- ish dealers in the US...

100 X 8 BIG volume - 800
100 X 4. Large volume - 400
100 X 2 medium volume - 200
60 X 1 small volume - 60

That's around 1500 cars ... Which I recently heard is about the number of CAYMAN GT4s delivered thus far.. And we know how easy those are to find..

That figure is DOUBLE the number of 1M and
I would bet that his figure is pretty close as I personally can't see BMW getting more than 2000 -3000 of these a year to the US. . It would be great if they could meet that sort of demand however I just don't see it ...

Yep it's United BMW. One of the 32 dealers of excellence from 2015 (not that I think that matters for allocations). I believe overall volume they are one of the biggest in the SouthEast.

Would not be surprised if dealers are mistakenly thinking their M2 allocations are for the model year

I can say for a FACT that my previous allocation, August production, September delivery, was MY17, so yours will be as well.

Yeah, I can't see how a November production would be MY2016... but I am a consultant - so I avoid unequivocal terms like "fact" and "will be" until I am holding something in my hands or seeing it directly
