After waiting for my M2C for so long, I may need to sell it soon :(
Got a great job opportunity through my current company to relocate to Dublin for a 3 year assignment. If I accept, I will be there early next year, with my wife to follow once we settle everything here. This means that we will be selling a lot of our US possessions, including my M2C. I have barely had a chance to enjoy the car. Followed the break in period religiously, and only have 1500 miles on the car. Not looking for guidance, just sharing my first world problems...
I do anticipate selling it for a pretty penny though, but I will cross that bridge when we make a final decision for the relocation. |

Bigger life events dwarf cars, but I can fully understand the feeling regarding the M2C. Maybe you can negotiate that the company pay to store the car for you for 3 years as part of the relo package. You can tell them you always intended to keep this car forever.

I've been in this position before. At least the current market seems to be on the sellers side. Hope all works out.

Definitely not the best financial decision but if you have a close family member you trust, you could sell or give the car to them for a few years with an agreement that they’d give or sell the car back to you when you return.

Perfect time to start enjoying the crap out of the car now! Cars with 15k miles are still going well over msrp.

Gotta look at the automotive plus sides (leaving aside the brutal cost of car ownership there) - proper fast estate cars, hot hatches we don't get over here, etc...
I left a good bit of my liver there as I spent most of the 00's living in Dublin and Greater London. If giving up the M2C is the price to pay, take it.

I need to look into this a bit more, but the thought of leaving it alone/sitting for 3 years makes me nervous. If we do go, there will be no need to come back to Dallas to visit since both of my kids will be in college outside of Texas, and all of my family is back in Canada (my wife's too).

It is pretty much 99% stock, outside of the BMS clutch stop, black painted muffler, and ceramic coating . The two mods I do have (M perf steering wheel and M pedals) I got through the factory so they are on the build sheet and part of the car.

I say sell it now, as you know, it's currently a seller's market, where car prices are unreasonable inflated.
Trust me, I was looking for a replacement vehicle to tide me over until the G87 becomes available and some quotes dealers pitched had me LOLing, due to their absurdity.. I have a sneaking suspicion that this current economic climate will not last very long, as the supply-chain flow eventually rebounds and then the market becomes oversaturated with used, over-priced vehicles.. After all, what goes up must eventually come down.. One would assume.. Congratulations on your promotion |

The G87 is around the corner and everything indicates it will be a great car. By the time you return (3 years....or maybe 5), the G87 will be mature and F87 will be "an old version of an M2..." |

That is a tough spot you’ve got yourself in, but a good one. I like mine so much I’d negotiate the relo package to include storage for personal goods. No need to explain the car necessarily. We have several high end facilities here that will house you car, tender the battery, replace fluids, drive and wash the car while it is stored with them. Just another idea.
Good luck! |

You're crazy. A year from now we'll be lucky if we're not trading cars for food and ammo. But I hope you're proven right.

Seriously though, the global supply-chain woes are beginning to recede already. The perfect storm of events that set off this bottleneck has been realized and is being remediated, thus, the worst is behind us in terms of the logistical issues. I don't want to get too political, so I'll just leave it there.. I really believe the OP should strike while the iron is hot and offload his vehicle now. An opportunity like this more than likely will not come back anytime soon and cash is king, he can always repurchase another vehicle after his hiatus. |

3 years would be a really long time to store a car IMO, not inky expensive and probably not great for it either. Luckily the market is hot, and at worse you can just get another one in 3 years if you don't want anything else on the market.
