How do I avoid license plate holes in the front bumper?

I was wondering how you guys who live in states that require a front license plate avoided getting holes drilled in the front bumper. Do I just need to let the dealer know before they get the delivery?

Also, I'll be working with Steven's Creek BMW for the delivery, so if anyone has any tips for working with those guys, please let me know.

Thanks!

Tell your salesman. Repeatedly. Tell him it's a deal breaker.

Exactly, just make sure you tell your sales guy or whoever is delivering the car to you that you don't want the front bumper drilled. I must have told my guy this every time we spoke to the point of where he was tired of hearing it. Someone on here had told their dealer that they don't want the bumper drilled and the dealer did it anyways, thats why I'd repeat it to my salesguy lol

They will make you fill out a form in California saying you understand it is illegal to not run a front plate and you understand this risk. Holes will not be drilled.

I'm working with Stevens Creek also and have been telling anyone who will listen to me that I do not want holes drilled in the front bumper. We'll see what happens when I get my car in the next 6-8 weeks.

So do they only drill the front bumper if it is delivered to the dealer? I've got mine scheduled for PCD. Should I tell my CA I don't want drill holes in my front bumper?

Luckily I live in Pennsylvania where we don't have front license plates.
The following might be of interest from a past forum:

I just made it clear very early in the process that I'll reject the car if the front is drilled or if you put dealer stickers on everything.

I hope they follow your wishes. I wondered if I would be able to reject the car after waiting 5 months.

My dealership does not put front license plates on any of the M cars. They will ask, but it is by customer request only. My car had a orange sticker where the plate would be installed, clearly stating no license plate! They did provide the bracket, just in case I changed my mind.

I installed a Sto N Sho top mount and it fit perfectly. No tow hook, no holes and it's clean on or off.

I'm doing PCD at South Carolina. Do I need to notify them not to touch the front bumper too?

It wouldn't hurt to remind them. I live in a state which requires a front plate, and I did PCD. When I picked up the car, I asked them to not install the adapter, and they just put it in the trunk. I bought the US Millworks adapter which uses the tow hook hole.

Got any pics to share? Thinking about this approach.

How did you install it? The website says you have to drill a hole.

I went with the US Millworks tow hook solution. I really like it but the offset plate doesn't bother me. In fact I like that it looks different.

I didn't drill at all. I prepped the area with rubbing alcohol and a heat gun. I applied an additional 3M double back tape to the side of the top mount... heated everything up (mount and tape too), lined it up using masking tape as a guide and applied it. The 3M tape adheres to the grill and underside (top mount) of the bumper.

I read that 3M has a prep wipe pack ($7), but I was just meticulous toward the measuring, prep, heating and application. I've had it on for over a month and it's strong. I can feel the bumper flex if I wiggle the bracket. I've gone through rain and 3 washes, no issues. Time will tell.

PCD won't drill your bumper unless you actually tell them to. SC does not require front plates.

I have a skene I just drilled underneath the bumper. No visible holes when removed and don't have to do the ugly towhook solution.
