sat in one early in 2016 and that was it. when I got mine in 10/16 the dealer made me drive it around 2x, once while I got my $ together and once when I took delivery. I am in socal and he said there was some sort law or rule that required it. my main cars have been 911s and S4/5s, for the past 3 decades and I have to say I thought I made a huge mistake when I first drove it home. The car, or at least my car was insanely tight; sputtering, rowing gears was impossible, suspension was way too firm vs the S5, etc. after ~150 miles the car started to feel much better and by ~300 it all settled in place. maybe it was just mine or just me because I have not come across anyone that has had this reaction. all this bs aside I have 4800mi on it now and I feel like the car was made for me. its a blast and a total joy to drive. I cannot image getting anything other than the mt, even in LA traffic - its that much fun

I did
I test drove an M235i and it fit the bill. The next day I put down my deposit. My number came up last week with a mid-April build date. Am looking forward to it with great anticipation. Obviously did alot of research before. i would think driving an M235i would let you know if you will like the M2 or not.

In essence, grafting over the M3/M4 suspension demands that the chassis be " This" wide. Thus, the length and width of the M2 is much larger than an E30, a BMW Z3/Z4 or 1 series when it comes to the overall exterior size of the car. |

Did a casual test drive in a M235, and was entirely unimpressed. However, I wasn't allowed to push the car at all, so it was likely not representative.
Saw an M2, but didn't get to sit in it or drive it. |

I would say most ordered before driving. I ordered before buying but with waitlist about a year I was able to go to a BMW M track day where I got to drive one on the track like a month before I took delivery.

My first experience in an M2 was at Sydney motorsport park - I drove it hard, pushed the limits of acceleration, braking and handling. It engaged my senses. The sound, the excitement, the invigorating, virile and engaging sense of occasion enveloped my whole being. That day on, I tried with my whole will to convince myself I didn't need to spend my savings on this car. But part of me knew this was a lie, "you've had your fun, YOU DON'T NEED THIS", I'd tell myself.
My second experience was when my local dealer allowed me to test drive their demo - this time I tested the car's capabilities as a normal road car. I listened to the stereo, sat in traffic and sat back and enjoyed the ride. The exhaust would pop and bang as I swiftly made my way through familiar roads. I noticed two other people during the trip checking out the car - testament to how good the car looks on the road. I succumb to honesty and without reservation told myself what I had known all along, "YOU NEED THIS!". My third experience will be this week when I drive her home for the first time. I'll have no regrets. I will drive her, I'll smile the whole time and I'll toss and turn that whole night as I try to sleep, only to press the start button again the next morning only to grin again from ear to ear once more as the exhaust purrs, my grip tightens and I drive off into the sunrise. So....no I didn't place my order without seeing or driving, but nonetheless I have no qualms in suggesting you need to place you order the moment you can.

I'm working in the Middle East but saw the videos online and wanted one. I put an order in and then the next went and sat in one at the local dealer to make sure I fit (I'm 6'6" or 1.98M) and I did manage to get comfortable even though the ME model had sunroof and the US model I will get does not. Anyway, the short answer to the query is I did purchase without seeing it.

Never even sat in a BMW before ordering. Took delivery in December in Michigan and had to look at it 8 weeks before I could drive it the first time. Abosultlety zero regrets. Have more buyers remorse for my iphone7.

Ordered before seeing one in person. Only seen the one LBB sitting in the dealer showroom - didn't even sit in it - was being delivered that afternoon.

I have an M2 on order in Status 111 to be built week 20 with PCD. I am buying this, my first BMW, without ever seeing one and thus never driving one. First time I have ever done this.
The M2 was up against a Shelby GT350 and Alfa G. I wanted a rear seat and a MT so the Porsche was out. I do like the looks of the Cayman but man, it is small and only 2 seats. I don’t like the exteriors of Audi’s as they are so bloody boring that I want to nap when I look at them. Went to Detroit NAIAS and saw all the Audi’s I could care for and the Alfa G, I thought the Alfa looked small and the price was crazy at $75K for the "good one". None of the Benz’s do anything for me unless they are AMG’s over $100k. I don't like 5 doors/hatchbacks, homey ain't no bloke, so the Ford Focus RS was not ever a consideration. A high school tuner car at best. Impressive track cred though. At NAIAS they did not have a M2 this year so struck out there. I went to a local dealer on a Sunday and I saw black, white, and MG on other 2 series cars including a M235. I really liked the MG and I obviously have not seen Laguna Blue in person. I thought the M235 was a small car (you see a theme here?). The M235 styling wise is nothing to look at really. Nice wheels and decent front clip but the sides and ass look plain and ... small. After reading tons of print reviews and watching tons of video reviews I selected the M2 over the Shelby GT350. The Alfa G 4 banger --- NO WAY! The other Alfa G with 500 horses at $75K …. NO FEAKING WAY! I'm not buying a $75k car from a Fiat dealer. I think the M2 is more my style. The Shelby is just plain, raw, American Muscle Car. Looks great and sounds great (flat plane V8 is brilliant and stupid fast) but I really would not drive it as much as the M2. Not going to pick my daughter up from school in a GT350 for Pete's Sake. My only concern is that this M2 is a small ass car. The M3 is not large or even medium in size to "me" so this is going to be interesting. Buying it for the performance and not the size. Just don’t want anyone calling it “cute”. That will piss me off!!! It is not CUTE!!! Crap...almost forgot. I built a sweet looking JAG XE online but never test drive it. Not enough torque and no MT. |

I bought mine without even seeing one in person, much less getting to drive it. I sat in an m235i a year prior at a car show. That's about as close as I came to being in an m2.
I knew it was the car I was looking for. Smaller, lighter (compared to other cars on the market), just the right amount of power, RWD, and in the right price range. It was a no-brainer for me. 3k miles later in 2 months and I'm loving every minute of it! |

Never saw one, never drove one. Mine was the only one sold by this dealer.
Now I get calls once a month the bring my car up to the dealer to show potential customers. I've showed up every time to help. 1) Cause I love the car and want to help others get one. 2) hope the dealer remembers this down the road. Lol |

I ordered mine without driving or seeing it. The last BMW I had was a 2008 135i which I sold in 2010. M2 should be here in 2-3 weeks.
