Fairly confident I saw M2 test mule on PA Turnpike just west of King of Prussia. Was traveling in opposite direction so I couldn't validate quad exhaust, but was clearly a 2-series coupe in full cammo, can't image what else it would be.

Recall the M235i prototype was spotted in NY/NJ. Possible delivery to Woodcliff Lake, headed south to Spartanburg or high humidity testing. Keep your eyes pealed.

I have test driven an M4 DCT.

The engine is fantastic really really awesome. But the first i noticed when driving away it has no nimbleness like the 1M Coupe. The M4 does not feel like it is 1500kg. It s in my eyes closer in feel to an M5/M6 then an 1M coupe.

When i first drove a 1M coupe i was convinced to buy one instantly. The M4 has not convinced me so fast. Is it worth to buy alone for the engine? For me no. I rather have an agile car. My quess is that the wheelbase of the M4 kills of all the fun which i am looking for in a car.

The perfect companion for an 1M coupe is an M3. I really see no point at all to use an M4 as a trackday car in my case. To use a 4 door M3 as a daily drive oh yess!!! It s much more fun then an M5 for sure.

I just have to wait for an M2 then. All i hope for is that bmw keeps the wheelbase as short as possible and make it lighter then the 1M coupe.

The long wait begins but after driving the M4 i know now you just don t get bored driving the 1M coupe. What a Car it is.

+1

I was surprised how quickly you adopted to the 1M, when early-on you were leery of the n54 "lag".. and lack of redline.

I am sure it was the torque and shorter wheelbase that drew you in, given your style of driving & after seeing many of your skillful drift vids..

That you too, are still looking for the perfect BMW wheelbase.

I couldn't land a 1M, but my 135is is not quite right. I have not driven a M235i yet, because I will just wait for the M2 regardless, to feel for myself.

Interesting that you perceive the M4 as "heavier" than it is. The car doesn't look <3600lbs to the eye, either. Perhaps it is just the physical size.

I hope the M2 is a winner, but I've kinda lost //M-faith along the way.

My sentiments exactly. All things being equal, that the M2 is as light as all of its competitors, I want it to have at least as much power as them.

CLA Black rumoured with 400+ HP, Golf R 400, RS3 with god knows what, not to mention the TT 420 that will leave the M2 wondering which way it went.

I want the M2 because I believe it will be the most beautiful of all of these cars, (aside from its excellent handling and perfect balance which is expected), but its clear that BMW are leaving plenty of room for a more hardcore version down the road.

At the end of your lease, you can still keep your car temporarily once you keep making the payments every month. Reason I said if he was under his max miles is so he won't have to pay any over mileage penalty. I'd check with your dealer if this works for you and you're waiting to get into another model car.

Have you guys seen the threads of the M5, M4, M3 being dynoed with much more power than BMW quoted? I could care less what the "official" HP and TQ figures say. The M2 will have 400 crank HP or more easily. My guess is it will have as much HP as the E92 has to the wheels with much more TQ.

I really don't care if it's 355, 375 or 400, I'm not skilled enough to use either end of the range to it's full extent. I'd really like to see the car go on a diet, get a good oil system, brakes, LSD, stiffen it up, make the suspension adjustable and let us have a warranty that covers track use.

First off, I couldn't tell the difference between 355 & 375 in the seat of my pants and there's probably not many on this board that would hesitate to slap a tune on their M2 and boost the HP from 355 to 400.

I would think it would be more than 355hp, the B58 they're going to put in the M235i gives out about 340hp, can't see the M2 only giving out 15hp more unless the M2 is only going to be an M235i with bells on

This defines my wishes as well. Plenty of other cars get big horsepower to compensate for their big weight. There are very few cars with 4 seats that are lightweight and sporty.

355 is more then enough!!

I rather have that bmw is concentrating on getting weight out of the M2.

My 1M coupe is fine with 340hp. Imagine a 100kg lighter 1M coupe with 355hp. That would be much better than adding more hp!

Warranty for track use....Good luck with that....As far as tunes....Yea, had tuned the last 3 cars i had....NEVER again. I will make some cosmetic changes but for the engine...what comes from the factory for me has to be enough..and i am sure anywhere from 355-400 hp will be plenty for the M2. My day's of dealing with warranty BS is over..especially on a M. I may be in the minority here but way to many issues for me modding a engine on a 60 grand car...I may be one of your exceptions....

Just a wish list, Chevy's honoring their warranty for the z28 and will probably do so for the z06 , why not BMW?

I had a tune on my 135i, but ended up taking it off - it never caused me any problems, but I just didn't see a need and it was a PITA re-flashing to factory setting when I went to the dealer. Did you have problems with your tunes?

Under what circumstances are Chevy honoring their warranty? You've got to be really careful about how you interpret what they say. Based on my understanding, they won't automatically dismiss your warranty claim if they know you've had the car on the track, but they still reserve the right to deny specific claims if the primary cause was track use.

I don't know BMW's policy in this regard. With an M-car, do they automatically kick you to the curb if they find out you've tracked the car? I've seen/heard a lot of forum members here who have good relationships with their service departments, despite the fact that they track their cars. It strikes me that, in practice, there probably isn't much difference between BMW and Chevy in this regard.

There are numerous references

Here's one

The 2014 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28 is a street legal muscle car designed for serious road racing and to help promote racing among new Z/28 owners, the 5 year, 100,000 mile warranty will cover problems which occur during track racing sessions.

. Should new Z/28 owners blow their LS7 V8 engine on the track, the incredible warranty will still cover the repairs or replacement.
As a service oriented company I'm sure that BMW will give you some leeway with regard to high performance use, but I wouldn't bank on it.

Yep. This is what I was referring to. First car and driver was speculating 400 hp, then the number dropped to the 375 to 380 range. Now in this last article the speculation is 355.

I am all for a lighter stiffer package. I don't think they need to be mutually exclusive. I had a 135i with first the PPK and then a Cobb tune. I still wanted more power. Every time I drive my current e92 M3 I say to myself this motor needs to be in a 2500 pound car. I really think bmw should be getting at least 125 to130 hp/ltr out of a turbo charged motor in an m car. There are lots of other fairly run of the mill cars with that kind of output.

That's really awesome on Chevy's part. I'm sure there are limits, but they're clearly pushing more toward an enthusiast friendly warranty. Hopefully that puts some pressure on other manufacturers to follow suite with their motorsports focused models.
