Is this the M2 Engine Compartment??

Did BMW Motorsport accidently reveal the M2 Engine Compartment during a brake change at the Nrburgring 24 Hour race. The M235i Racing Engine Compartment looks a lot more like the F80 M3 Engine Compartment vs the Standard M235i Stock Engine Compartment. The CFRP Front Strut Brace and a few other bits look like an exact match...... Thanks. PalBay

the engine looks exactly like the M235i's.....the only thing is the carbon brace that looks like the F80.

Yeah, it says M Performance on the engine cover, not M Power like it should on the M3 and M4.

Let the M2 have M3/M4 seats this time, by all accounts they're awesome!

The standard M Sport seats in the 1M were quite a let down.

Lets hope for M3/M4 seats but then in Manual to loose weight.

Just sat in an M4. The seats are perfect fit.

After the near-total trashing the M4 got in the new Top Gear Speed Week comparison, I'd say the less the M2 shares with the M3/4, the better.

Maybe... rear suspension...yes the reason for the wider track as shown on the prototype using the M235i Racing blisters.

The golden BMW is absolutely all over the place. Literally. I try driving it with the traction control switched on, but the slip fairies seem hyper-alert, and the sideways light never stops twinkling. When I switch it off, the BMW slews about like it was trying to negotiate mid-corner ice with balding tyres. The front axle plants itself neatly, the steering accurate, the brakes exceptional. But as soon as I breathe near the accelerator, the M4 pushes the tail wide in what proves to be one of the most frustrating 20-minute drives of the whole week. It simply cannot make use of its – admittedly excellently brawny – engine. A fact compounded when I swap into the Corvette and absolutely murder it using nothing but third gear. The Stingray really does make mincemeat of the BMW.

It wasn't just one reviewer who felt that way - this was a Top Gear group test with multiple reviewers. The M did not fare well.
