That is a very nice used car. Looks great.

It's nice to have so many choices!!! I did not check, but do they offer an extended warrantee? It's a 2011...last of the two door M3?

Decisions! Decisions!

The allure of a V8 is deep and amazing. I came "this" close to getting a 2011 M3 - instead ending up with a 1M.

And I'm really happy it worked out the way it did and there is one main reason for that - torque. I had a 2008 M5 (the same engine as the M3 plus two cylinders) and it always felt so gutless at low RPMs. The M3 has even less torque than my M5 did (100 ft/lb?) and I think that with my commute/drive (stop and go) it would have driven me nuts. So... if you have the opportunity to open that beast up on some country roads, then go for it - but if your life is in traffic day in and day out, I don't think you will love the car. Just my 2 cents!

Interesting and thanks for the advice

I am coming from a competition M4 so used to lots of torque

However there is something magical about the way the e92 looks for me and the handling is supposed to be fantastic

I came from a V8 E92 (2011 wasn't the last year, BTW, 2013 was). The torque thing is not a problem day to day. It has 300ft/lb and that's more than enough for traffic, the only time is catches you out is if you're in 3rd at 2500 RPM and floor it, you'll need to wait until 5k before the fireworks, but when it does...JEEEEEEESUS, that engine is a screaming dream.

On the other side, I've found getting used to the power delivery of a turbo car again a bit frustrating. An N/A motor is more forgiving in wet conditions, so I found launching the M2 more difficult than my E92, mostly due to the huge wad of torque at low RPM. And the fact that 1st is a VERY short gear on the DCT when you are on it hard.

I'm only 2.5 months in with M2 ownership, but the main differences are:

- M2 has an even better front end than the E92, which is pretty stellar.
- The E92 has a very creamy slip and drift point, with razor sharp adjustability on-throttle
- The e92 throttle response is probably the most direct I have ever driven (inc. Porsche, Ferrari, etc). It's like a direct connection from your brain>foot>throttle bodies.
- The M2 throttle response is squishy, just like ever other turbo car.

Which is better to drive? Hmm, that's difficult. The engine in the E92 is a masterpiece. The handling is pretty magical, BUT the M2 has me laughing and grinning, and is easily as fast if not faster in cases where the torque is required.

So, that probably doesn't help...

Yeah, agree with doug_999. Don't settle...get what colour/options you want. Wait a little longer if you have to.

No it does help and sounds like you loved the M3

I have never experienced the M3 and may just be siding with it slightly

I loved it, but driving away from my E46 in the E92 was heartbreaking. Times change and you just have to move on, sometimes. It doesn't mean you don't look back fondly.

The S65 rod bearing issues would give me some pause.
