M2 vs. M4
I am ready to purchase a vehicle and came across two different deals. I was wondering which seems like a better one in your opinions, of course it'll come down to the test drive but some insight wouldn't hurt. Certified 2016 Base M4 in Alpine White with 14,759 miles for $57,999 vs. Certified 2017 Base in Alpine White as well with 2,206 miles for $56,991. (both manual btw) My dream car has always been an M3 but the M2 seems like a good deal although im questioning if its enough car for me to fall in love and not want another car in a year or so. Thanks for your time

I have both... Aside from technical aspects
and less quality interior, if you are in speeding over 250km on highways go with the M4. Otherwise, take the M2. Its almost capable as M4, practicle for city driving and feels&looks better |

Gotta go drive them. Had an M3, its gotten bigger and now more of a GT muscle car that doesnt sound good. M2 is skimpier on the luxury but has sports car feeling and roots to old BMW's. Prefer the M3 for casual driving around, prefer the M2 for a sports car drive.

Another thing to consider is. Will the M2 be your daily? And how are the roads where you live. The M2 is more raw vs the M3/M4. But my advice would be to buy your dream car.

If the price delta is a few thousand dollars, I would always rather have something brand new....

I'm currently in the same position right now, I found a 2015 m4 with 30k miles for 46997, but I also have my deposit down for an M2 MSRP -2k (52500 USD). Car was just put in the order bank and I was given an estimate of a 7-8 mon wait before the car is delivered. I tend to go through cars fast, so I'm trying to see which will be a better investment. Interested to hear which one you go for and why.

Had F80 M3, now moved to MY18 F87.
In terms of practicality except talking about having passengers at the back. I will say no difference. If used M4 that you mentioned have adaptive damper, it will give you better smoother riding at comfort setting and M2 is fixed rated damper will be sometimes ride hard on bumpy roads. Although M4 will give you more comfortable riding quality, it also make you feel that you are in a larger vehicle (larger than what it actually is considering the actual size compared to M2). If you want to have nimble and dynamic driving experience, go for M2. Resale value so far is better in M2 than M4 but still cannot make 100 % accurate prediction after CS or Competition version of M2 comes available. |
