Underbody steel panel

Has anybody ever removed the big steel under body panel for M2?
I drop something in there. I need to get out but that seems to be part of the frame. I don’t want to take all the bolts out and I’m not going in.

It's not that bad to remove (you can see how in my video below). However, if you dropped something down there on it, you probably don't need to remove it at all. There are thinner side covers at the edges of the stiffening plate that can be removed and then you can reach in (or use a grabber tool) to remove whatever you dropped in there.

Yea it’s not as bad as it sounds.

The bolts are torque to yield and are one time use only according to BMW.

You will want to torque the large bolts with the correct torque specs and at some point you probably should replace them.

I’ve taken mine off several times and I have yet to replace them.

I bought some cheap bolts from Autozone to replace them - like 10 bucks if you really wanted to replace them when done.

I check the torque on mine only 20 pounds to turn them off so they were just snug lol
I don’t understand that
I was expecting about 30 foot pound

I reused the factory bolts… But I’m going to replace them all this weekend

Not sure why you’d go for cheap bolts over the OE bolts, that seems like a poor decision
