BMW Tucson

So speaking of M4 premium. I called the Tucson BMW store and they have not sold their HEA car, but they want 67K for it. Ouch! I told him good luck with that. I don't need to have the first one on the block for an extra 10K.

The M4 is a premium because you get more then you do compared to an M2. Similarly when you compare and M3 to an M5.

In reality the M2 is marketed towards people who cant afford an M4. Like all of BMW's series each one is marketing towards a segment mainly based on affordability. The 2 series is no different. IMO BMW has way diluted their brand cashing in on 1 series and 2 series markets. Its now the every mans cars vs anything exclusive it used to be.

Im not saying the M2 wouldn't be a fun car to drive and doesn't have its own merits, but it simply doesn't offer as much as the M4 does objectively speaking no matter how much people want it to.

I cant say that the M2 would be fun to drive even though the M4 offers more objectively speaking? Those two statements dont contradict each other. They simply acknowledge two differences I see in both cars.

How can you objectively speak on a car having more to offer than another when personal preference is probably the largest deciding factor on choosing an automobile?

This directive is rooted in subjectivity, further underscored by the bolded part of your last sentence. Nothing wrong with having an opinion.

I never said personal preference when referring to either. I simply said the M2 is likely fun to drive, but the M4 offers more objectively speaking. i.e. performance, options, luxury, size etc.

Think of it in terms of woman. It would be fun to ride Charlize Thereon, but objectively speaking Sofia Viagra objectively speaking offers so much more.

Make sense?

What if I wanted both?

And what if I don't like her accent?

Just kidding, man.

I agree that the BMW M2 is marketed towards people who can't afford an M4, but I believe there are a lot of people who can afford an M4 that will be going the M2 route instead.

As for every man's car, the least expensive BMW is a base (no option) 228i with destination & handling is $33,845. A base Civic is $19,475. The 2 series sold 13,020 for 2015 in the US, while the Civic sold 335,383 for 2015 in the US. Not sure I'd call a BMW 2 series an every mans car.

If you want exclusivity buy a McLaren.

The same argument could be made for the all of their SUV's as well since that's diluting the sporty brand.

BMW made a smart move by allowing a lower entry point, they're more likely to have lifetime customers vs someone who wouldn't buy one until they're 50 and then moves on to another brand.

Fare enough, but there are also 1 series cars, and monthly lease deals that pretty much anyone can afford. The 1 series and 2 series are "me too" cars answering the question of "isnt there a BMW for me too?" BMWs answer of course is yes (1 and 2 series). The M2 is perhaps aptly named Me2

Would get an m2 if the lease deal didn't suck.

F80 and f82 exhaust notes are so unbelievably underwhelming.

If I was a buyer, I'd get a used cayenne GTS all day or even a 997.

For all those who are concerned with size and feel and exhaust, you can't beat a pre owned Porsche for the money.

Anyone have any interest in the Giulia or XE SVR, or am I in the wrong forum?? What about the new RS3 sedan? Too heavy? Don't like all wheel drive and the fact that it'll be an auto tranny?

Also - are people forgetting you can only get this freakin car in four colors, with interior choice being black or black. Does that not bother anyone?

I see your argument here. The whole affordable Porsche market thing, not so much haha. The ones I would want are going up. Some new, some old. I'm not interested in a 996 or 997t, I Imagine n54 hiccups with a 911 turbo markup in parts cost and service.

I already own a knockout Porsche. I also own a fine GT car. Both of them cost significantly more than an M4. I can afford one of those too. I just want an M2, because it will be closest to what I no longer own, now that my E36 M3 has gone to its Great Reward.

And I don't give a rip about special order funky colors, inside or outside the car. Gray outside, black inside is just fine with me. There is more than one kind of target M2 customer out there.
