Other than the crooked seat thing that seems to be driving some people crazy! That doesn't bother me though.

There are a couple of things I don't like; the road/tyre noise can be intrusive on some surfaces (plenty of crappy roads here), and I think the fake noise in the cabin is unnecessary as the car is loud enough to sound great without it. The firmness of the ride may be too much for some. General 2er issues: the HK sound system isn't all that for the money, and the comfort access seems to lock the passenger out if I get to the handle first, but that could be a settings issue. I am slightly nit picking, these aren't stopping me from loving the car.
Great info. Tire noise, firm suspension, and fake engine noise seem to be the recurring themes.
FWIW I think the noise and suspension will be a non issue for many true enthusiasts that are buying the car for its intended use. I'm sure it could annoy some in which case the M235i may be a better choice. My last car was a 135is with BMWP springs and Bilstein sports. There is no question that the M2 has a much better ride quality than that setup which was admittedly quite firm. I was running z2 ss and that was way louder than than the mpss on the M2. Just trying to give some context that might help. Bottom line is that at least for me both of these items are absolute non-issues given what I'm coming from. In my mind I've transitioned into a very comfortable driving car with awesome handling to boot.

Lack of front parking sensors, i know it's not a deal breaker but given that you get it on a Hyundai and every other bmw, would be nice.

Agree with some others here, the front parking sensors would be nice, the center arm rest moves when you're not expecting it, speedometer being hard to see, and some other nitpicks too minor to even type. Like the small turbo.

Active sound design is a showstopper for me. Can't stand that fake crap and the attempt by engineers to fool is with what they think is cool sounds. You realize once it's removed that they should have taken out more sound deadening. It's actually quiet with the windows up. Windows down --> sounds awesome.

i wish that big digital display would provide useful info like engine temps, tranny temps, boost, speed, etc like it does on the GTR. The gauges are hard to read but fortunately you can have the speed listed digitally in the center of the gauge cluster.

Kidding...I did try that and for me if I lower it to the point to give me full visibility then the top of the speedo gets cut off. This one is a real minor issue for me because its only the center bottom where the odometer is that gets cut off. Something I don't need to be checking often while driving. Nevertheless it is a human factors miss by BMW.

Oops. And while were talking human factors misses I did forget to add one and I'll update my OP.

6. They ruined the cruise control controls. All my other bimmers had a stalk mounted cruise that only required 1 touch to set or coast or increase or decrease or resume. The M as well as all of the new BMWs have steering wheel mounted controls that requires 2 touches to set initially. The rest remain 1 touch. To set the first time an ON button plus a set button must be touched. There is no legitimate reason for having an ON button. You should just be able to hit the set button. That's the way its used to work and it was elegantly simple. If it's not broke then don't fix it. I'm in the healthcare software business and # of clicks by physicians to accomplish something is scrutinized extremely closely. If I gave them a software update that required 2 clicks for no apparent reason instead of 1 they'd throw me out.
I had the same cruise control in my F22, and at first I didn't like it. After a few weeks, I got used to it. My wife's X1 has the old-school stalk control, and I really don't prefer one to the other any more. The one thing I like about the F22/F87 is I don't accidently hit the turn signal stalk when I'm trying to cancel cruise.

One thing; You never have to use the 'set' button. The little toggle switch does the same thing.

I do agree with some of the minor annoyances listed:
Gas tank should be bigger (though it still has more effective capacity than my bladder).
Not enough contrast on the instrument panel.
Automatic headlights should turn on sooner.

I would like to have seen:

1. Front parking sensors
2. True oil temp gauge
3. I really wish there was a to make something other than "Comfort" the default drive mode. Or, has someone figured out how to make a Drive mode a shortcut on the preset buttons??

None are deal breakers; I love the car...

Another thing, the CF trim inside loves to collect dust and dirt like a magnet. I'll stop picking on it now!
How does the car know when someone is getting on the other side or not?!?

I'm trying to find some negatives but coming from my EVO.

Gear shift is better
Steering is lighter than my EVO
Smoother Ride,
Stiffer ride though.

I guess the one thing I don't like is that there is no pause, play button anywhere. I have to use the Idrive or my phone.

Does the iDrive controller have the touch sensitive top (for writing letters and such)?

My negatives:

1. No backlit gauges during the day. This bothers me every time I am in the car.
2. No oil temp gauge. Once again, bothers me every startup.
3. No front parking sensors/camera.

Front Parking sensors....that would be nice...I wonder if there is a way to put it on through another company.

Here also as negative, no backlit gauges during daylight. I don't understand that as now adays one has to pay extra attention to the speedometer to avoid speedcontrols.
A rather stiff ride, even in Comfort mode.
A huge adaptation to the M-DCT coming from the single clutch Steptronic in the 135i Coupé. Manoeuvrering and shifting from 'D' or 'S' to 'R' is not so smooth. There is also a lack of creep leaving the brakes after a standstill. I suppose this is proper to the ///M DCT gearbox.

No "rev-match off" button... something that doesn't disable DSC at the same time.

The same way it knows I am getting in, the sensor detects your hand going into the handle. If I am close enough for it to detect the fob, why can't both door handles anticipate detecting a hand, rather than just my side. I can walk up and open both doors and the boot with the fob so only a slight software tweak. Simple enough really.

You actually have to touch the handle for it to sense it, the car isn't psychic.

My biggest issue with the car is that the speedometer isn't backlit during the day. I just don't understand why. If there is a logical reason, I understand. But I can't seem to think of one.

Yea, I was driving the other day and it was right at dusk. My DRLs weren't on yet, but my speedo lights weren't on and it was hard to see. You can be going about 60 on a 40 mph back road and not realize it because this beast is quick. I guess we will have to manually switch on the lights. I hope this can be coded somehow.

For those who own the 6MT, would you mind commenting on the clutch (feel, take up point, weight, etc.)?

Thanks!

Wonder if someone can make aftermarket gauges that are 1 more visible during the day and 2 light up all white at night. Simple enough to swap faces no?

There is an aftermarket swap on the P car side that will allow you to get the factory look of red, yellow or whatever color you want gauges. It's a fraction of the cost of replacing an OEM cluster and a good idea...but some people have reported back that the instrument cluster itself can develop issues because you physically have to get in there to change the faces/backdrop out.

I wonder if there's an aftermarket option (a film of some kind maybe?) that could be placed on the glass of the instrument cluster to improve the contrast somehow?
