Most fun M car currently for sale.
Does that mean it's the "best"?
Who cares?
Step away from the keyboard, get in your car and drive.
Just for the fun of it.
I did last week. 3.3K kms to the Vosges, Alps and Dolomites. Outright fun that no review can represent.

I think you're confusing a M2 with this.

That looks like it might be emphasizing speed over fun.

Downforce in a 780 pound package with 250+ hp is fun as hell.

It may be a byproduct of it, but I don't think it was the design goal

Kicking everyone's ass in your class is fun and that was their design goal. Either way, way more fun to drive on track than a M2 (or almost any street car)

+1

I prefer mechanical grip over loads of downforce and traction. I prefer a more playable balanced car over a snappy car like it's a train on rails

For me it's also about classical (front engine rwd + lsd) car control. Just like real pros like Jari Matti Latvalla.

But each to their own. As a streetcar the 1M and M2 are just great for the things I'm looking for in a car. Fun/enjoyment etc.

Cheers

I agree. However, I see the 1M and 2M as two totally different beasts. The 1M gets my heart pumping whereas the M2 was missing that edge.

Exactly, my ex 1M was a more raw edgy car. I loved it.
M2 is a bit too civilized(engine /power delivery) to my likings tbh, but the rest of the M cars are even 'worse' (except for the unobtainable M4 GTS)

Cheers

You mean the rest of the "current" M cars I presume. My Z4M is a raw beast

Ja man!

I meant the current lineup, not icons like M1,E28 M535i/M5, E34M5, E30M3,Z3M, Z4M, E46M3/CSL etc.

The delivery date of my M2 is end of 2016.... And I'm still enjoying my oldschool M...as I did today

There was also this M2 from the BMW driving experience in the same color as my future M2... It's a sign....

Enjoyment of "driving " , not the enjoyment of racing !

I have an M2 on order and as I was lucky enough to drive it at launch and next to the M3 and M4 as well and as I said then, it's a great car but it wasn't like the M4.

It's perfect for me as I couldn't stretch to an M4, but I am not that delusional to think it's a better car than an M4, let alone a GTS.
You're applying your values to all people. I couldn't care less about the current M3/4 as a sports car. It's just too damn big to be an enjoyable sporty driving experience for me.

But I actually enjoyed driving the M2 a lot. WAY more than the F80/2. Not more than my e46 (albeit a very not stock e46), but if I were buying one of the two, at the same price point, it would be the M2 in a heartbeat.

Much as I'd dump my e39 M5 without a second thought, if forced to choose between it and my e46 M3. It's just too big to truly drive hard. Actually, quite an apt analogy, since the e39 is very M3/4 sizes and the e46 is very M2 sized...
