Got a surprise call from my dealer this afternoon and collected my M2 a coupla hours later!
BMW UK have finally seen sense and followed the states with lifting the delivery ban. I had to sign the same disclaimer but no mention of it being a safety issue, just "excessive wear". Obviously they'll fit the new diff when it eventually comes. LOVING the car - pokey little thing with ridiculous amounts of grip coming outta bends. The way it makes the power too is really impressive and those blips on downshifts will never get old. Right now I couldn't be happier. To those still to collect their cars, you're gonna love em! |

Awesome news - very happy for you Quote:
Yeah I will be planning a detail session soon, be sure to post photos of yours when done. In terms of "plans" ... there are two things at the moment: 1. Weathertech Mats 2. Disable auto stop/start as "default". I've wanted a set of weathertech's since my E46 M3... but they are pricey. I just love the fitment and more importantly the high walls so it collects all the dirt/stones and keeps it in the tray... I got mine from ebay (weathertech europe in Italy). Just look for F22 RHD, it will be fine. I had to add velcro strips underneath because that's what the OEM mats use. I've made a DIY but I will add that to my own build thread very soon. |

Turn off "Stop/Start" function, these links seem to have the answer with:
"All new BMW M models have the “Last user mode” as the default setting from production" http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=606503 http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=636783 |

Thing is, does that apply to NA market and not UK?... Because my start/stop activates by default. Tried coding those options on a UK M235i and was able to successfully prevent stop/start activating by default. I used BMW E-SYS... there are two flags as described in those links... one to disable default start/stop, and another to remember the last 'state'. I followed the F22 coding thread - it has a spreadsheet listing all the control module locations etc. Not sure if anyone has done the change on the F87 yet... it should be near identical to the F22 though. It would be nice to have memory on driving modes too... but I believe such a setting has not been discovered yet. Last edited by MerlinPurple; 09-03-2016 at 01:30 PM.. |

I'm really waiting for somebody to come up with coding to have the instrument cluster back little permanently.
The only real negative for me,for sure. |

Btw - when is your M2 due? Side note: ... when the back light is on, do you find it dim? ... pretty sure I adjusted the dimmer to max - will try again. During night driving it's fine, but early evening (with sidelights on) it's hard to tell. |

Apparently during the day the sensor compensates so in daylight the back light reduces,so there isn't a workaround as yet. |

[QUOTE=MerlinPurple;20512006]I'll try it tomorrow and report back. That vid is pretty much how the M235i works now since I did the coding - good find!
Btw - when is your M2 due? Due in W39 or last week in September, not long now.... I'm sure Markpsec picked up from my dealership today, no doubt excited! |

Hello all, I'm new here but have been lurking for a year or so whilst my M2 has been on order. Picked it up on Friday, blown away by it to be honest, I thought with all the hype it might not quite live up to it but its surpassed any expectation by miles.
I'm located Hampshire / Surrey area (UK) and it's BSM Manual. Can't wait to get more miles on it! |

Mine is built.
Story of mine so far, ordered about 18th October 2015, wanted an October delivery (birthday present to self). When the dealer got allocation, 5 in total in 2016, I chose the 3rd car, delivery late September. When the car appeared on BMWs uk system, it was showing production week 36, delivery week 39 - hats off to BMW we're in week 36 now. Dealer txt me about 10 days ago, specification couldn't be altered anymore. 31st Aug - 5055, Confirmed by Prod Control - also noticed the car had a VIN and a chassis number. No engine number. 3rd sept - 5300 Pre Assembly Start, still no Engine Number but the car now had a production date on http://bimmer.work. 5th sept - 8200 Released to Carrier!!! Engine number now on the dealer screen. She's on her way!!! |

Maaaaan It's almost been a week since pickup and I'm loving the M2
Had some interesting moments... Had to collect an item from Liverpool ... great excuse to rack up the miles to RI service. Quite often had to be patient when wanting to change to the outside lane because almost every car went by 'slowly'... curiosity and that lol. Then the next day I pulled up to the traffic lights on red. I looked in the rearview mirror and saw the passenger with their phone out against the windscreen taking a photo. Bizarre, never had that before. Confirmed as well that auto stop/start is always activated upon engine start just like the M235i . Will need to code it out later. As confirmed here, not all markets have it disabled upon startup or memory mode enabled: http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1268181 Weathertech mats are working well. All the crud is kept in place and the mat stays firmly in place using the velcro method. I am loving the steering more and more - they got this soo right. How about you guys... got any stories to share? |
