Update: I accidentally shut it off via the bimmercode app. I am a dummy.

Wish my rev-match didn't work. Want to trade?

You're lucky.

Could it potentially be from all the mode changing for pops and bangs? I was slightly concerned it might mess with the computer too much.

You can code it out with bimmercode.

Start engine without clutch. http://f87.bimmerpost.com/forums/sho....php?t=1418405

You have to hit the start button twice and long push to start car though after this change I think. Check the link for details.

I thought that might be it...

Too be fair it's not obvious that messing with that setting would get that result. Might be a bug. Might be a hidden feature. Might be both. Hopefully BMW doesn't "fix" it.

I tried a restore from an older backup earlier today (before you explained this), and the car went back to starting the way it did before with one start/stop press, but it did not give me back the rev matching...so i'm really not sure how reversible it is once you code it out.

Well if BMW upgrades your istep I think it resets ALL of that stuff to the new factory settings so that will likely revert it. The OP in that thread said he reverted the change so perhaps they could tell if you they restored the backup or just recoded or what.

Yeah it will be back to factory settings after the update, i'm not concerned.

OP said he went back and forth no problem so i guess it was just some sort of glitch or fault on my end. Could have been a poor connection while coding perhaps. Oh well, lesson learned. Thanks for the help!

Do you remember all of the settings you changed? Maybe you can share. That’d be cool to have rev match turned off AND be able to start the car normal with just a push of the start button instaead of the double push long press. Thanks.

all this was in the backup i loaded after i accidentally turned rev match off:

dvd in motion
video playback via usb
add devices while driving
disable legal disclaimers
rolls royce sounds
no seatbelt chimes
close windows with key
fold mirrors with key
windows auto up with doors open
idrive 6 lite
b + o audio
unlock doors when car is shut off
radio off when doors open (after pressing stop button once)
angel eye brightness 100%
sidemarkers disabled
headlight washers disabled
door handle lights on when in reverse
fuel level reserve warning to lowest setting
euro mdm
disable active sound
all rear bulbs coded to LED and warm up checks disabled (except for rear fogs/emergency brake lights)
rear outer daytime running lights switched on
rain sensor sensitivity changed from normal to sensitive

after i reloaded this backup, the car started normally but still didn't rev match. that's all i know. sorry i can't be more help. this was done accidentally.

I see, but you don’t know the settings you changed that disabled rev match in the first place before reloading the back up? Did you mess with the clutch to start? Thanks.

Oh sorry i misunderstood your question. Yeah, i tried both the no brake and no clutch start to see what they did so i guess that's how it accidentally got activated. Perhaps if you have both turned on or off the car will start normally but not rev match. That's my best guess.

Oh gotcha, yeah I did that the first time around and the car wouldn’t start period haha. Oh well, atleast there’s a way to turn off rev match with a minor trade off. Glad you got your car fixed too.

Just got it back. Not sure why it took so long lol. ISTEP is updated and everything works. Weather app is back. No other changes other than smoother software operation. Don't believe anything else anyone's saying that it changes sound or adds power lol. It's the same car. Glad it's all functioning normally now.

Haha yeah man I think the adaptations are cleared after the update so the car feels different initially “more power” lololol.
