Narrowest Winter Wheels

Hello All- I am expecting delivery of my M2 in two weeks and living in the Chicagoland area, I am already thinking of what to get for snow tires. I had an E46 325 prior and ran square 205 width tires on it in the winter. That width was awesome in deep snow and ice. I see Tire Rack and Apex are pitching 245 square ste ups. Anyone have experience going any narrower than 245? I'm thinking 225 square would be great for the winter. And, I don't mind giving up the dry traction.

Thanks.

Erich

P.S. This is my first post after lurking for many years.

225/40/19 square setup is decent. mount them on 8.5x19.0 wheels and they look flush and flat

Thanks for the feedback. I'm going to see if tire rack has a 225 setup.

depending on the wheel's lip, it may sit flush or have a mild stretch.

I was gonna shoot for 225/45 on an 18x8.

Used a tire size calculator and it seems that with the 225, it stays under the 3% difference rule. Michelin X-ice seems to come in the right sizes.

Yeah, I've already been through a calculator with it. Many good snows available in this size; I'm planning on Nokian Hakka R2.
