My brother just ordered a 2018 M2 so will ask him to post his garage stable when he gets the car.
Good to see so much variety on here! I have a Dakar M3 since I need the 4-doors but in my heart love the M2 as well We have way too many useless 2-door cars (2 seater) that a 2-door with 4 seats would be a nice welcome addition.

2002 BMW 330d Touring for carrying stuff, towing, and using in the rain and snow; and 2011 Lotus Elise SC for pure unadulterated fun at weekends in summer. The roof is on 0.001 % of the time.

This thread is insane. My garage is so depressing, relatively speaking.

I do believe we're proudly representing the bottom of the socioeconomic totem pole here. Until the M2 arrives, our garage has only one car - and the car is staying too - a 2004 Mazda3 5-door hatchback with a dented fender and 110K miles, which has been throwing a P0056 emissions code for 3+ years, and whose radio screen malfunctions and depending on its mood either reminds you of The Police's "Ghost in the Machine" album cover or what you might see on the day SkyNet empties the silos.
Or, said differently, not many garages are more in need of some M2 beautification than ours. Our hope - and I say this with a high degree of sincerity - is that the M2 arrives before the Mazda pulls a Blues Brothers and implodes like their Dodge Polaris with all the doors and wheels falling off at once. |

Not that it's a competition, but I had you beat until this year when my two old girls had to finally go. Was milking my 22 yr old Camry and my wife's 20 yr old RAV4. Both finally pissed their pants for the last time....blown brake line and transmission cooling line. They also needed brakes, tires, exhaust, timing belts, etc....had 276K on the Camry and 150K on the RAV. It was tough to see them go because I really used them hard and never had a worry. Wife and I have rescued many animals so both cars smelled like wet dogs and you could barely see out of the rear windows because of nose smudges. When I would get gas people always looked over while I opened up the tailgate and cleaned the "inside" of the windows with the squeegee. We donated them to our local humane society to help the cause. We ended up replacing them with almost two identical vehicles because of versatility and lifestyle. Always owned and liked hatchbacks and wagons for many reasons. Both were purchased used with low mileage. The M2 was a total splurge and the first new car I ever bought, and that took 55 years to happen. Figured that life is a total crap shoot especially when one gets to this point so don't hold back. Last edited by M2Nebula; 10-26-2017 at 11:27 AM.. |

M2Nebula, our situations are interestingly similar.
I'm 50, my wife 43, and we don't have kids. But we do love animals and our house has over the years become the neighborhood soup kitchen for abandoned animals. We currently feed and care for 11 cats and 2 dogs - cats are very smart and they quickly figure out which house in any given neighborhood has the best and most reliable supply of grub! The Mazda will become the dogmobile, the vehicle we use to transport sick animals to the vet, and the one that takes all the abuse, just like your Toyotas. When the Mazda dies, we'll do just what you did, and buy another beater just like it. And like you, the M2 is a complete splurge for us. We have an online business so we work from home and drive very little - maybe 4000 miles per year, max. There's no daily commute, just weekly groceries or a client visit. So we can't say we "need" the M2 - we just want it, and like you I don't want to find myself later in life wishing I'd gotten to own just one M car but realizing I let time get away from me. So this will be a weekend road trip car for us. It won't be my first sporty car - I've owned multiple V8 Mustangs and a Euro-spec Porsche 928 5-speed - but the M2 will be by far the most amazing and expensive car I've ever bought. |

We got the M2 for the same reasons, a nice weekend car to get out together in and enjoy. She didn't like that I was always out on one of my bikes and she couldn't be part of it as two of them are solo seaters. The X1 is now the dog car and her everyday vehicle. It's a bit small in the back but the rear seat folding system is great as it locks past vertical and allows more head room for our larger dog. Attachment 1712075 |

I also came from a 2004 Mazda 3 before this, also with some dents. Probably not many M2 buyers did! |
