Stage two HEX, Fabspeed DP, Wagner EVO comp FMIC on 93, pulls like a freight train. 385+ to the wheels and is now faster than my buddies stock M3. So spiky I need larger tires. It does all the big speed stuff it missed before and sounds so good for a turbo car.

25k miles, has been perfect to me. Very happy all the way around.

Nice Z. Is the State of Hawaii still scamming drivers with those "safety checks" and ugly stickers? Looks like it.

Thanks and yes we’re still being scammed on those safety checks. I believe we’re only one of 7 states and the only one not doing it for emissions! It’s so stupid, every year, they check our tints, turn signals, reverse, brake, head and rear lights then ask for $25. Then the law actually states, and we’re the only state, that it is to be placed on the right side of the rear bumper! By my pic, you know what I think of that.

Not to mention how many dumpy cars you see with broken lights or missing bumpers and brand new safety check stickers.

I think if they actually followed the requirements, 1 in 10 cars here in Maui would be immediately taken off the road.

Good thing you can easily squeeze power out of this engine for not too much money.

I'm now at 600 miles and this whole time the max break in rpm was 4000rpm.

Get an F80, F82. I have trouble with traction in the first 3 gears with my 17M3. Even with GTS diff coding. It makes me want to trade it in for a ZCP.

Coming from a big heavy torque monster CLS63 I can say that my M2 feels plenty fast. Deceptively so even.

It puts down the power. All of it.

Of course I do miss the days of having to worry about not spinning out on the highway in 4th going WOT.... But this will do.

Easily? Maybe you can do it easily but not safely or cheaply. For that you should be spending some $$ and doing cooling as well.

Now if you mean in comparison to any NA M car of old.. oh yes I agree there whole heartedly.

I disagree. it is pretty much incremental gains.

Well my M235i makes 415hp on the dyno and I've only spent 1200 dollars for the upgrades. That's not incremental to me and its not too expensive. Turbo upgrades are also cheap compared to the S55 engine but as Stefan said, it was mostly in comparison to NA M engines.

Just picked up my car today and coming from a m135i I can safely say it's a proper upgrade.

I can't get a real sense of the engine yet as I'm trying to keep it under 5krpm but initially it definitely seems faster than my old car but not as much as I though.

Also the gearing from 2nd to 3rd seems off. At 60km 2nd seems too low but 3rd too high and can't get any torque. With the ZF in the m135i 60km was perfect on 3rd- right in the heart of the torque curve without being uncomfortably high in rpm :

Hopefully the car will open up more and once first service is done I can go WOT and see what it's like then.

?????

How/why would the car open up more after the first service?

My 2016 M235 6MT was decently quick with ~1,000 miles but it still felt a bit tight. The car got much stronger once it got 5,000+ miles on it. It has 18K miles now and it feels so eager and willing to rev. The car also wouldn't spin it's tires remotely as easily when it was just broken in. Even with 60%+ tread in the back on the OEM MPSS tires and a completely stock motor, I've got hardly any traction in 1st if I'm not careful with throttle manipulation and can easily break the rears loose from a 30-40mph roll in 2nd and sometimes even in 3rd, assuming I'm on an asphalt surface. When the temps are below 60 or the surface is wet, it can be interesting with the MPSS tires. I would expect a broken in M2 to be even more of a handful given the additional torque and HP.

One thing I've found very interesting is that 265 width "BMW Star" MPSS tires that come on the back of the M2 only have a 0.4" more tread width than the 245s that come on the M235. This is based on the tire spec info on TireRack. Given that there's not a whole lot more tread out back and the M2 is making about 40wtq than the M235, I would think the M2 could light up the rears quite easily, even with its wonderful LSD out back.

After reading this thread I was worried I'd to be disappointed after break in but I've had a similar experience to you. Maybe it's the crappy roads here but rolling into the throttle in 2nd and 3rd and the back end is stepping out.

I agree with that. Not sure why, but all of my Ms seems to have opened up around 4,000+ miles. My 335iS did the same thing. Not sure why. But I wasn't complaining!
