Break-in service tire issue.
So a couple of weeks ago I took my car in for it's break-in service and window tint.
When I collected it, I had a warning flash up to check the rear offside tire pressure. I took it back into the bay, and asked them to top jump the air, and drove away. The next morning, the same tire was showing a low pressure warning - so I took it back and asked for a replacement, which they did and paid for. I've just driven home from work, and the same tire pressure warning light is on - now only showing 20 bar pressure. Have any of you had an issue with a faulty sensor? And might that even apply? |

Have you checked the pressure with a gauge or are you just reading it from iDrive. That's one way to find the fault. If the pressure is truly low then the valve may be leaking (if they didn't replace it with the tyre) or the rim itself may be cracked.

As for your tire problem, I'm a bit surprised the dealer changed the tire without checking/replacing the sensor. I would hope they would adjust the pressure and wait an hour or two to see if it drops using a manual pressure gauge. I'm willing to bet its a bad pressure sensor as 20 Bar = 290psi. 2.2 Bar is about 32psi which is about normal.

So you changed the tire when the valve stem might have been the issue the whole time? Or a cracked wheel... or a dozen of other things? You need to find out why it is leaking and from where before doing that. Then again if have tire replacement, let them.

One of my tire pressures read low for a day or so after fixing a small wheel rash. I was kinda upset and paranoid but after driving for a bit it normalized back to the other PSI. This was in the middle of summer though , so I’m not sure if that helped it

This being Houston, I coughed up for wheel and tire coverage, so I'm only going to be out the $50 deductible. However, if it rears its head again, I'll be demanding a full investigation, and a refund of all money spent if it is a tire/wheel issue.
