My new MG M2
Hi all,
finally picked it up today. After ordering in February, I got the keys Yesterday!! Past cars were: 1997 Porsche Boxster 2001 Honda S2000 2000 Porsche Carrera 4 2003 BMW Z4 3.0 2006 BMW 650i and now at this stage I picked up a BMW X1 F48 for the practicality and the M2 for the smile. The choice of colour was hard! Only the white was out of my list. All the others weighted similarly. Decided for the Grey and I think it grew on me in the last months. First impressions are very positive. Still not sure about some details: 1. Turbo Lag ... All my previous cars were natural aspirated and they reacted immediately to the throttle pedal. It doesn't happen in the M2 - but I think I'll get used to it. 2. The rev match on downshift. I think I will like it when driving more aggressive... I can feel the brake better without toe & heel myself, but during normal driving is an overkill and there is a moment after the downshift where there is a kind of an artificial throttle. Well, lets see. other than that... very nice machine! That sound.... oh what a sound. some pics: see ya. |

Very nice!
I have also only owned na cars, with my two favorites being a 2006 S2000 and 2009 911, the throttle response on those cars are great, especially when the revs are up. When I drove an M2, I loved almost everything about it, with the slight turbo lag being one thing that just felt off to me. I'd be interested to know how you think it feels after owning the car for a few weeks or months. |

Steering with the throttle is where I'm still not sure, and won't be able to find it out that soon, since I'll be driving in public roads only in the near future. With all my previous cars, helping steering with throttle was very easy and intuitive (except the 650i ... I think due to the steptronic gearbox that always had a "clutched" feeling). I'm not sure how the M2 reacts when the turbo kicks in ... maybe throws a big power slide But I'll keep you posted. Anyone else had this experience? |

Great car. I have picked up mine and deliver it in less than 24 hours for full suntek full PPF, thermal tints and ceramic coating.
I will get the car next week and looking forward to it. Can I ask here which is the best app to use for this forum in order to easy upload pictures? I tried through Tapatalk but I cannot see the M2 forum. Many thanks. |

After PhotoBucket went nuts and started charging huge fees, I switched over to SmugMug, which is perfect for what I need. You can try it for free for a short period, and then there's a minimal annual fee. It's been flawless so far. However, there are a few free services you might want to try too; maybe someone else can recommend one of those.

The other option is uploading them directly using the attachment icon in the reply box, but they must be no larger than 1900 X 1334. Just re-size if needed and you are good to go.

For turbo lag I believe some have claimed installing some kind of mod that changes throttle response changes the car to feel more responsive. I think others have said a down pipe will reduce turbo lag.
After you get more miles on the car you can keep drop some gears and keep the revs up higher. On boost a bit above 4k rpm outside of comfort mode the car will feel very responsive. |
